This 1956 Mercedes-Benz 190SL was purchased by the seller’s father in 2004 and passed to the seller in 2012. It is finished in red over Cognac vinyl and equipped with a black convertible top, a tan top boot, 13″ steel wheels with wide-whitewall tires, a Becker Europa radio, Weber side-draft carburetors. Service in 2023 included adjusting the carburetors, installing polyurethane engine mount inserts, overhauling the brakes, and replacing the brake master cylinder, fuel filter, air filters, and driveshaft center support bearing. This 190SL is now offered with a car cover and a clean Texas title in the seller’s name.

Originally white, the car was repainted in red sometime before 2004. It is equipped with a black soft top and a tan top boot. The top pivot bolt was replaced in 2023. Photos of flaking paint on all of the body panels can be found in the gallery.

Steel 13″ wheels wear chrome trim rings, hubcaps with body-color accents, and 185/80 BFGoodrich Silvertown Radial whitewall tires. The car is equipped with a double-wishbone front suspension, rear swing axles with coil springs, and power-assisted drum brakes. Service in 2023 included overhauling the brakes and replacing the master cylinder, kingpin bushings, and control arm bushings.

The bucket seats, door panels, and dashboard are upholstered in Cognac vinyl, and interior features include a Becker Europa radio, an analog clock, and a dashboard-mounted rearview mirror. Service in 2023 included replacing the driver’s door window guides and cleaning and lubricating the window channel.

The two-spoke steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation including a 140-mph speedometer and a 7k-rpm tachometer as well as gauges for oil pressure, water temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 41k miles, approximately 5k of which were added under current ownership.

The 1.9-liter M121 inline-four was fitted with Weber sidedraft carburetors prior to 2004. Service in 2023 included cleaning and adjusting the carburetors, replacing the fuel filter and air filters, and installing polyurethane engine mount inserts.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a fully synchronized four-speed manual transmission. The driveshaft center support bearing and clutch rod boot were replaced in 2023.
