This 1959 MG MGA 1500 roadster was purchased by the seller in 2000 and later underwent a gradual refurbishment. An overbored MGB inline-four is linked to a four-speed manual transmission, and other work conducted under current ownership has involved repainting the body in red, retrimming the beige interior, replacing the beige convertible top, and fitting a Weber carburetor. Other equipment includes steel wheels, hubcaps, dual side mirrors, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, and side curtains. This MGA is now offered with a clean New Mexico title in the seller’s name.

The car is said to have been repainted red in 2010, after the beige convertible top had been replaced in 2002. Exterior equipment includes a bright body-contour grille, fender-mounted side mirrors, and chrome bumpers with bumperettes. Flaws in the paint are pictured in the gallery below.

Silver-painted four-lug 15″ steel wheels wear chrome hubcaps and are mounted with 165/80 Nexen SB-802 tires. The car is equipped with an independent front suspension with coil springs and hydraulic dampers as well as a rack-and-pinion steering system. Braking is provided by drums at all four corners.

The bucket seats were reupholstered in beige leather and the dash top was redone in 2002, according to the seller, who indicates that the beige side panels and the black carpeting were replaced in 2021. Interior appointments include an aftermarket wood-rimmed steering wheel, a dashboard-mounted rearview mirror, a heater, and door map pockets. There is an opening in the dashboard where a radio was previously installed.

Jaeger instrumentation includes a 120-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 52k miles, approximately 2k of which were added under current ownership; true mileage is unknown.

An MGB-sourced 1.8-liter inline-four was bored .020″ over and installed in 2016, and it is topped by a Weber downdraft carburetor.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission.

The car is titled under the body number pictured above instead of the chassis number, which would begin with the letters “HD”.
