This 1977 Mercedes-Benz 450SL is said to have remained with the first owner in California until 2018 and was acquired by the seller in 2020. It is finished in English Red over Palomino MB-Tex and powered by a 4.5-liter M117 V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. Features include a removable hardtop, a black soft top, and steel 14″ wheels with painted covers as well as a Blaupunkt CD stereo, central locking, and electric windows. Work under current ownership included rebuilding the transmission and steering gear as well as replacing the starter, alternator, and battery. This R107 shows 151k miles and is offered with manufacturer’s literature, service records, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.

The car is finished in English Red (504) and features a matching removable hardtop, a black soft top, fog lights, dual side mirrors, a power antenna, and chrome bumpers and trim. The right door has been repainted and is faded, the rear hardtop window is cracked, there are tears along the seams of the soft top, and dings, scratches, and paint chips are present around the body.

Steel 14″ wheels wear painted covers and are mounted with 205/70 Sentury Touring tires. The car was factory equipped with power steering and power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes. Service since 2022 has included rebuilding the steering gear, replacing the front brake pads and sensors, and changing the power steering fluid. The seller notes that the brake calipers should be rebuilt or replaced.

The cabin features two bucket seats upholstered in Palomino MB-Tex along with a color-coordinated dashboard, door panels, and carpets. Interior amenities include a Blaupunkt CD stereo and electric windows. The dashboard is cracked, the parking brake release knob is missing, and the air conditioning does not blow cold.

The four-spoke steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation consisting of a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, a clock, and gauges for coolant temperature, fuel level, and oil pressure. The six-digit odometer shows 151k miles, approximately 1,700 of which were added under current ownership.

The 4.5-liter M117 V8 features Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection and was factory rated at 180 horsepower and 220 lb-ft of torque. The seller notes that service in 2020 involved replacing the starter, alternator, and battery, and that the oil was most recently changed in November 2023.

Power is routed to the rear wheels via a three-speed automatic transmission that was reportedly rebuilt in July 2020.
