This 1959 Austin-Healey Bugeye Sprite was purchased by the seller’s spouse in 2020, and it is powered by a replacement 1,275cc inline-four that was installed under prior ownership. Finished in Cherry Red over a black interior, it is equipped with a black soft top and tonneau cover in addition to a four-speed manual transmission, 13″ steel wheels, front disc brakes, a fender-mounted side mirror, a wood shift knob, removable side curtains, and lap belts. This Bugeye Sprite is now offered with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate, service manuals and records, spare and removed parts, and a Massachusetts title.

The car is finished in Cherry Red and features a replacement removable black soft top and side curtains as well as a matching tonneau cover. Exterior details include a black-finished front grille along with a windscreen washer, a fender-mounted left-side mirror, rear bumperettes, and a single exhaust outlet. The front bumper has been removed and is included in the sale. Chipped, touched-up, and uneven paint is noted by the seller along with a separated seam at the right-rear corner of the soft top.

Silver-finished 13″ steel wheels wear chrome-plated and silver-painted hubcaps and are mounted with 165/70 Delta Essex tires. Braking is handled by front discs and rear drums, and the braking system was overhauled in 2010.

The bucket seats are trimmed in black vinyl, and interior appointments include a heater, a passenger-side grab handle, a wooden shift knob, lap belts, and door pockets. The shift knob is loose and comes off easily.

The two-spoke steering wheel frames instrumentation consisting of a Jaeger 100-mph speedometer, a Smiths 6k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 58k miles, approximately 20 of which were added under current ownership.

The 1,275cc BMC A-series inline-four was installed under prior ownership along with a rebuilt distributor and an electric fuel pump. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission, and the clutch was replaced in 2010.

Spare parts that will accompany the car include the removed front bumper, convertible-top components, and more as shown in the gallery.

The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate shows a build date of December 30, 1959, and lists original colors, equipment, and delivery to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
