This 1973 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia convertible is finished in Saturn Yellow over black leatherette upholstery and was optioned with the “Sports Ghia” package, which included black exterior stripes, 15″ Lemmerz steel wheels, and a three-spoke steering wheel. The car was refurbished under previous ownership approximately 20 years ago and was acquired by the seller in 2022. Work under current ownership included painting the floor pans and wheels along with replacing the tires, dashboard pad, trunk liner, and shock absorbers. Power comes from a 1,584cc air-cooled flat-four paired with a four-speed manual transaxle, while additional details include a black convertible soft top and boot, front disc brakes, VDO instrumentation, hand-crank windows, a lockable glove compartment, and a Sapphire XIX push-button AM/FM radio. This Karmann Ghia convertible is now offered with a Volkswagen Delivery Status certificate, manufacturer’s literature, parts receipts, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.

The car left the factory finished in Saturn Yellow (L13M) and was repainted under previous ownership. Exterior details include a black convertible soft top and boot cover, black “Sport Ghia” stripes, dual side-view mirrors, polished beltline trim, dual “pea shooter” exhaust outlets, and chrome bumpers with overriders. Rust repairs were performed on the bottom plate for the spare tire under previous ownership.

Lemmerz Sport 15″ steel wheels wear black VW-logo center caps and are mounted with 165/80 Nexen SB-802 tires. Stopping power is provided by front disc and rear drum brakes.

The front bucket seats are trimmed in black leatherette upholstery and are joined by a color-coordinated dashboard and door panels. Salt-and-pepper carpeting lines the footwells, and additional interior elements include a rear parcel shelf, hand-crank windows, a lockable glove compartment, and a Sapphire XIX push-button AM/FM radio.

The three-spoke Sport steering wheel fronts VDO instrumentation including a 120-mph speedometer and an analog clock with an inset fuel-level gauge. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 86k miles, approximately 1k of which have been added under current ownership.

The air-cooled 1,584cc (AK) flat-four sends power to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle. Service under current ownership included an oil change, valve adjustment, and replacement of the transaxle oil as well as the clutch and throttle cables.

Additional underside images are provided in the gallery below.

The Volkswagen Delivery Status certificate lists identification numbers, factory colors, a manufacturing date of March 30th, 1973, and options, including M976 15×4.5″ Sport rims.
