This 1999 Shelby Series 1 is #146 of 249 examples produced by Shelby American and is powered by a supercharged Oldsmobile-based quad-cam 4.0L V8 paired with a six-speed manual transaxle. The car is finished in Centennial Silver Metallic with red vinyl stripes over black and gray leather upholstery, and equipment includes a black soft top, an aluminum chassis, carbon-fiber bodywork, pushrod suspension, 18″ multi-piece wheels, a roll bar, twin Cerullo bucket seats, four-point harnesses, billet aluminum pedals, an aftermarket stereo, a Monsoon sound system, and air conditioning. The current owner purchased the car in 2015 and has since added approximately 5k of the 12k miles. This Series 1 is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner with Shelby paperwork, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Georgia title in the owner’s name.

The Series 1 was designed from scratch by Shelby American and was manufactured at the company’s facility in Las Vegas, Nevada. The aluminum chassis is paired with carbon-fiber and fiberglass laminate bodywork, which is finished in Centennial Silver Metallic with red vinyl stripes on this example. Exterior equipment includes a black soft top, front fog lamps, a front-hinged heat extractor hood, fender vents, heated side-view mirrors, a Le Mans-style fuel filler, and dual exhaust outlets. Blemishes on the soft top are shown in photos below.

The 18″ multi-piece alloy wheels are mounted with Goodyear Eagle F1 tires measuring 265/40 in front and 295/45 out back. The car features pushrod suspension with inboard-mounted coilovers and remote reservoir dampers. Braking is provided by Shelby-branded four-piston calipers mounted over vented discs at all four corners.

The twin Cerullo bucket seats are upholstered in black leather with gray inserts and feature Carroll Shelby signatures embroidered on the backrests. Additional interior appointments include a Shelby-installed chrome roll bar, four-point safety harnesses, Shelby billet aluminum pedals, a carbon-fiber shift knob, an aftermarket Pioneer stereo, a Monsoon sound system, and air conditioning. A Carroll Shelby signature is located on the dashboard. The passenger-side lower dashboard is loose, and the rearview mirror is blemished.

The four-spoke steering wheel frames a Shelby-branded instrument panel housing a 170-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline, and auxiliary gauges. The digital odometer indicates 12k miles, approximately 5k of which were added under current ownership.

A serialized plaque showing serial number CSX 5146 is affixed to the dash.

Fewer than one-third of the 249 examples of the Series 1 were reportedly fitted with a Vortech supercharger by Shelby American. The 4.0-liter Aurora L47 V8, a version of which was used for Oldsmobile’s racing efforts in IMSA and IndyCar competition, was factory rated at 450 horsepower in this specification. The engine is fitted with a Shelby-specific engine management system and camshafts as well as a Borla stainless-steel exhaust system and carbon-fiber engine covers.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transaxle made by RBT with ZF components.

An invoice from March 2003 indicates that this car was fitted with a supercharger and clutch upgrade, billet foot pedals, four-point harnesses, a radiator screen, and a chrome roll bar at that time.

The Carfax report is free of accidents or other reported damage.
