This 2009 Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG left the factory finished in Mars Red and equipped with the P30 Performance Package, which raised the speed limiter to 186 mph and added an AMG track-calibrated Active Body Control suspension, a limited-slip differential, and an AMG sport steering wheel with aluminum shift paddles. Power comes from a 6.2-liter V8 mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission, and the car is equipped with 19″ split-spoke AMG wheels, a power-retractable convertible hard top, bi-xenon headlights, and a rear spoiler. The cabin features heated and ventilated seats upholstered in Stone AMG Premium leather as well as an Airscarf system, burl walnut wood trim, a Harman Kardon sound system, Distronic cruise control, dual-zone automatic climate control, and COMAND infotainment with navigation. Acquired by the seller in 2024, the car has remained in California since new and now has 27k miles. This R230 SL is now offered with a window sticker, manufacturer’s literature, service records, a car cover, a clean Carfax report, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
The roadster is finished in Mars Red (590) and features AMG bodywork including the front bumper cover, side skirts, and rear diffuser. Additional exterior details include a power-retractable convertible hard top, front and rear parking sensors, and bi-xenon headlights with washers as well as fog lights, quadruple chrome exhaust outlets, and a power-operated trunk lid with a spoiler.
Split-spoke 19″ AMG wheels are mounted with Michelin Pilot Sport tires measuring 255/35 up front and 285/30 out back. The car features an AMG track-calibrated Active Body Control (ABC) suspension as well as an Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Automatic Slip Regulation (ASR), revised suspension settings, and an AMG braking system with six-piston front calipers, four-piston rear calipers, and cross-drilled rotors at each corner.
The heated, ventilated, and power-adjustable multi-contour seats feature an optional Airscarf system and are upholstered in Stone AMG Premium leather that extends to the dashboard and door panels. The leather-wrapped AMG Performance multifunction steering wheel features aluminum paddle shifters and frames a 200-mph speedometer and an 8k-rpm tachometer with inset digital displays as well as gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The digital odometer indicates 27k miles, approximately 100 of which were added by the seller. The Carfax report contains a February 2024 entry with an odometer reading of 28,068, which the seller states is the result of a clerical error.
The 6.2-liter M156 V8 was factory rated at 518 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque. In March 2016, the engine was removed to facilitate the replacement of the head gaskets, cylinder head bolts, and valve seals. The engine was reinstalled on replacement mounts and the power steering pump was also replaced at that time. The battery was replaced in February 2024, per the Carfax report.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through an AMG Speedshift seven-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential that was specified by the P30 AMG Performance package, which also raised the speed limiter to 186 mph. The car most recently passed a California emissions test in February 2024.
The window sticker shows initial delivery to Mercedes-Benz of Escondido, California, and lists factory colors, equipment, options, and a total retail price of $157,395. Manufacturer’s literature, service records, and a car cover are included in the sale.
