This 1964 Mercedes-Benz 230SL is a Euro-market example that was acquired by the current owner in 1996 and brought to California approximately six years ago. The car is powered by a 2.3-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission and is finished in white over black leather. Equipment includes a black convertible top, a removable hardtop, 14″ steel wheels with painted covers, a cassette stereo, and a heater. This W113 SL is now offered on dealer consignment with a clean California title.
The W113 SL was designed by Friedrich Geiger, Béla Barényi, and Paul Bracq and was introduced to the public at the 1963 Geneva Motor Show. This example is finished in white (050) and features a black soft top, a driver-side mirror, and European-specification headlights. Photos of the hardtop are provided at the end of the gallery. There are paint cracks around the right headlight.
The 14″ steel wheels feature polished trim rings and hubcaps with painted centers, and they are mounted with Vredestein Sprint Classic tires measuring 185/70. Braking is provided by power-assisted front discs and rear drums.
The cabin houses bucket seats upholstered in black leather that extends to the door panels. Interior appointments include a cassette stereo, an analog clock, a floor-mounted gear shifter, and a heater.
The two-spoke steering wheel features a chrome horn ring and frames a 140-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline as well as gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 65k kilometers. (~40k miles), approximately 25k of which were added under current ownership.
The 2.3-liter M127 inline-six was factory equipped with Bosch fuel injection.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission.
