This 1967 Jaguar XKE is a “Series 1.25” roadster that was built on March 24, 1967 and dispatched to Jaguar Cars of New York the following month, and it is claimed to have remained registered in Asheville, North Carolina with two owners for the following 40 years. The car was refurbished in 2013, with work consisting of refinishing the British Racing Green body and frame, refreshing the interior, resealing the 4.2-liter inline-six, and overhauling the suspension and braking systems. Before the car sold on BaT in December 2022, chrome Dayton wire wheels with Vredestein tires were installed along with an aluminum radiator and Revotec cooling fan, and since the selling dealer’s acquisition cosmetic repairs have been performed. The car also has four-speed manual transmission, a black soft top, a cabin heater, and triple SU side-draft carburetors. This XKE roadster is now offered with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Production Record Trace certificate, historical registration cards, service records, and a clean Pennsylvania title.
The car is finished in British Racing Green and has a black soft top, a soft top boot, sealed-beam open headlights, a louvered clamshell hood, wraparound chrome bumpers, bright trim, a left-side mirror, triple windshield wipers, and dual exhaust outlets. Work since the last auction consisted of closing and painting the incorrect antenna hole, straightening and re-plating the front bumper and AMCO bars, adjustment of the bonnet, installation of the missing 4.2 emblem, and other cosmetic corrections.
Chrome 15” Dayton wire wheels were sourced from Moss Motors and wear Vredestein Sprint Classic radial tires. A full-size spare fitted with an older Pirelli tire is stored in the trunk. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes with the rear units situated inboard, and the system was overhauled during the 2013 refurbishment along with the front and rear independent suspension.
Brown leather upholstery and trim are fitted in place of the factory beige trim and accompanied by matching treatments on the dashboard, center console, and door panels. Toggle switches line the center of the dashboard, and additional equipment includes a three-spoke steering wheel, a cabin heater, and an adjustable rearview mirror.
Smiths instrumentation consists a 160-mph speedometer and a 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset analog clock, along with auxiliary gauges housed within the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 42k miles.
The twin-cam 4.2L inline-six features a trio of SU carburetors and was factory rated at 265 horsepower and 283 lb-ft of torque. An aluminum radiator and Revotec cooling fan were installed by the previous owner.
Stamping 7E128487-9 corresponds to the engine number noted on the chassis identification plate and the included Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission. Additional photos showing the suspension, chassis, and driveline, as well as corrosion on portions of the underside are presented in the gallery below.
The Jaguar Heritage Trust Production Record Trace certificate lists the factory colors and identification numbers, along with the build date and distribution through Jaguar Cars of New York.
