This left-hand-drive 1978 Morgan Plus 8 was purchased new by the seller and collected at the Morgan factory before being toured through Europe and shipped home to Canada. It is finished in Sun Beige with Nut Brown wings and powered by a 3.5-liter Rover V8 paired with a five-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes a limited-slip differential, brown leather upholstery, a brown soft top, 14″ alloy wheels, power-assisted front disc brakes, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a half-tonneau. This Plus 8 is now offered with side curtains, a tonneau cover, refurbishment photos, service records, an owner’s manual, literature, and British Columbia registration.
The seller special-ordered the car in Sun Beige with Nut Brown wings and it features a luggage rack, a dual exhaust system, and a brown soft top with a matching half-tonneau.
The 14″ alloy wheels are mounted with older Michelin tires and the spare is mounted aft and secured with a wingnut. The Plus 8 was equipped with a sliding-pillar front suspension, a leaf-sprung live rear axle, and front disc brakes. This example has been fitted with Koni rear shocks.
The left-hand-drive cabin is trimmed in brown leather and equipped with storage cubbies, lap seatbelts, wind wings, and a fixed-position leather-wrapped steering wheel.
Smiths instrumentation includes a 7k rpm tachometer, a 270 km/h speedometer, a voltmeter, and gauges for fuel level, engine temperature, and oil pressure. The five-digit odometer shows 38k kilometers (~24k miles).
The 3.5-liter Rover V8 drives the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip Salisbury rear axle. The seller notes that the engine has recently begun to overheat, the exhaust resonators need replacement, and the differential pinion seal is leaking.
The seller states that an undercoating was applied from the factory. Additional underbody images are provided in the gallery below.
The car is being sold with its registration, which serves as the ownership document in British Columbia. The VIN on the registration is a combination of the engine and chassis numbers.
