This 1971 Volkswagen Super Beetle convertible is powered by a 1.6-liter flat-four paired with a four-speed manual transaxle and is finished in red over tan vinyl. It is equipped with a tan convertible soft top and boot in addition to running boards, dual side mirrors, 15″ steel wheels, three-point front seat belts, and a VW-branded shift knob. Acquired by the seller in 2018, this Super Beetle is offered at no reserve with the owner’s manual, service records, two keys, and a clean Virginia title in the seller’s name.
The car is finished in red and features a tan convertible soft top and top boot along with chrome-finished bumpers, a power antenna, dual side mirrors, running boards, dual exhaust outlets, and a louvered rear engine cover. Close-up photos of the paintwork and trim are presented in the gallery.
The 15″ steel wheels with VW-stamped covers are mounted with Nexen SB-802 tires measuring 165/80. The car was factory equipped with a MacPherson strut and coil spring front suspension in place of the standard Beetle’s torsion bar setup.
The front bucket seats and the rear bench are upholstered in tan vinyl that extends to the door panels, while color-coordinated carpets line the floors. The cabin has three-point front seat belts, and a VW-branded shift knob has been added. The seller reports the radio is inoperative and the right-rear window handle needs to be replaced.
The four-spoke steering wheel wears an aftermarket wrap and features a Wolfsburg crest. A 90-mph speedometer has an inset fuel-level gauge as well as a five-digit odometer that shows 93k miles, approximately 1k of which were added under current ownership.
The air-cooled 1.6L flat-four was factory rated at 60 horsepower, and it is equipped with a single downdraft carburetor that was replaced in August 2018. A repair order from that time notes fluid leaks.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle. Corrosion is present on underside components, additional photos of which are provided in the gallery.
