This 1974 Volkswagen Super Beetle convertible is finished in orange over black upholstery and was acquired in 2011 by the seller who added approximately 4k of its 61k shown miles. Work under current ownership included rust repairs and a rebuild of the air-cooled 1.6L flat-four, which is paired with a four-speed manual transaxle. Additional details include a black convertible soft top and boot, 15″ steel wheels, drum brakes, a lockable glove compartment, a two-speed fresh air blower fan, and a Sapphire XI push-button AM radio. This 1303 Super Beetle is now offered with service documents, parts supplier catalogue, two keys, two top boot covers, and a clean Kentucky title in the seller’s name.

The car is finished in orange with a black convertible soft top and boot and features polished beltline trim, quarter vent windows, a Karmann body tag affixed to the right front quarter panel, and chrome impact bumpers with rub strips. Rust repairs were performed on the rear wheel wells in 2012 and the right rear fender was repainted in April 2024. There are two tears present in the convertible top, additional photos detailing the condition of the exterior are presented in the gallery below.

Steel 15″ wheels wear chrome VW-stamped covers and are mounted with 165-series Guardsman SCR II tires. The car was factory equipped with a MacPherson strut and coil spring front suspension in place of the standard Beetle’s torsion bar setup. Stopping power is provided by drum brakes at all four corners. The front struts and wheel bearings were replaced in 2014.

The front bucket seats and the rear bench are upholstered in black leatherette and are joined by color-coordinated door panels and salt-and-pepper carpeting. Additional interior elements include a lockable glove compartment, a two-speed fresh air blower fan, and a Sapphire XI push-button AM radio which is currently not functioning.

The four-spoke steering wheel features a Wolfsburg crest center cap and fronts a 100-mph VDO speedometer with an inset fuel-level gauge. The five-digit odometer shows 61k miles, approximately 4k of which have been added under current ownership. True mileage is unknown.

The air-cooled 1.6L flat-four was rebuilt by South Hill Auto Repair of Lexington, Kentucky in May 2013. Work included installing a pair of rebuilt heads and replacing the pistons and cylinders, crankshaft, camshaft, lifters, oil pump, and pushrod tubes. The alternator was replaced and an oil change was performed in May 2023.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle. The left rear floor pan was patched and the chassis was undercoated in 2015.
