This 1966 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 Mk III was originally dispatched to Dusseldorf, Germany on May 31, 1966 and was refurbished in the early 2000s. It is powered by a 2.9-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission and is finished in Colorado Red over black Ambla vinyl. Equipment includes a black soft top, 15″ knock-off wire wheels, front disc brakes, a top boot, a tonneau cover, LED headlights, a badge bar, driving lights, a cabin heater, and front bucket seats. The car was purchased by the seller in 2018, and the clutch was subsequently replaced. This 3000 Mk III is now offered with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate and a clean New Jersey title in the seller’s name.

The car came finished from the factory in Colorado Red (RD2) and was repainted around 2002. Features include a folding black soft top, a top boot, a tonneau cover, a hood scoop, a badge bar, LED headlights, and chrome bumpers with overriders.

The 15″ knock-off wire wheels were mounted with 185HR15 Vredestein Sprint tires in 2021. Braking is handled by front discs and rear drums. The brake fluid was flushed in 2022.

The two-plus-two cabin features bucket seats trimmed in black Ambla vinyl, and interior appointments include a cabin heater, a center console, a locking glovebox, and wood trim. An amplifier and auxiliary cable have been added, though a radio blanking plate is fitted in the dash.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths black-dial instrumentation consisting of a 140-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, a fuel-level gauge, and a combination gauge displaying oil pressure and water temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 51k miles, approximately 6k of which were added under current ownership.

The 2.9-liter inline-six featured dual SU HD8 carburetors from the factory for a rating of 150 horsepower and 173 lb-ft of torque. Compression test results are viewable in the gallery.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with Laycock-de Normanville electric overdrive. The clutch, pressure plate, throwout bearing, and pilot bearing were replaced in October 2018. Trailer tie down rings have been added at each corner.

The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate lists the factory colors and serial numbers along with a build date between April and May 1966.
