This 1969 Ford Mustang convertible was repainted and fitted with a 428ci V8, a Tremec five-speed manual transmission, and a limited-slip differential under prior ownership. The car was acquired by the seller on BaT in July 2023, and subsequent work involved replacing the alternator and the convertible top pump and lines as well as fitting a shock tower brace, a RetroSound stereo, a Rockford Fosgate amplifier, and an alarm system. Additional equipment includes 15″ Magnum 500-style wheels, power steering, Global West subframe connectors, Wilwood front disc brakes, a Holley carburetor, MSD electronic ignition, aftermarket headers, and a dual exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers. This Mustang convertible is now offered with the removed 302ci V8 and automatic transmission along with a Marti report, spare parts, service records, and a clean Illinois title in the seller’s LLC.
The car left the factory finished in Black Jade (C) and was repainted in 2013 and fitted with white side stripe decals on the lower body. Chrome-accented 15″ Magnum 500-style wheels are mounted with 235/60 BFGoodrich Radial T/A white-letter tires. The car is equipped with power steering and Global West subframe connectors, and braking is handled by power-assisted Wilwood front discs and rear drums. The front springs and rear leaf springs were reportedly replaced under previous ownership.
The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench that are upholstered in black vinyl along with a color-coordinated dashboard, door panels, and carpets. The seat covers, foam padding, and carpets were replaced under previous ownership, and a RetroSound AM/FM stereo, a Rockford Fosgate amplifier, and an alarm system were fitted under current ownership. The battery has been relocated to the trunk.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts a 120-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges, while an Auto Meter tachometer is mounted on the steering column and an Auto Gage water temperature gauge is housed below the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows 75k miles, approximately 300 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The replacement 428ci Police Interceptor V8 was installed under previous ownership and is said to have been overhauled in June 2021. Tubular headers feed a dual exhaust system with an H-pipe, Flowmaster mufflers, and quad tips, and additional modifications include an aluminum intake manifold, a Holley Demon carburetor, an MSD ignition module, an ACCEL ignition coil, and Taylor Cable spark plug wires. A strut tower brace and replacement alternator were fitted under current ownership and an oil change was performed in October 2024. The removed 302ci V8 and automatic transmission are included in the sale and visible in the gallery below.
A Tremec five-speed manual transmission was installed in place of the factory automatic gearbox, and power is sent to the wheels through an 8″ rear end with a limited-slip differential and 3.55:1 gears.
