This 1974 Alfa Romeo 2000 Spider Veloce was acquired by the current owner in 2009, and it has been retrofitted with Weber side-draft carburetors and a wood-rimmed Personal steering wheel. The 2.0L inline-four is said to have been revised with performance camshafts, and additional details include a five-speed manual transmission, a limited-slip differential, a replacement black canvas convertible top, power-assisted disc brakes, 14″ Campagnolo Daytona wheels, red paintwork, and black vinyl upholstery. This S2 Spider is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner with a black convertible top boot and a clean Michigan title in the owner’s name.
The Pininfarina-designed bodywork is finished in red, and the seller reports that it was repainted circa 2000. Exterior equipment includes a replacement black canvas convertible top, a driver-side mirror, and a central exhaust outlet. A blemish is shown at the bottom of the left quarter panel.
The 14″ Campagnolo Daytona wheels are mounted with 185/70 Dunlop SP20 FE tires. The car is equipped with an independent front suspension, a live rear axle, and anti-roll bars. Braking is provided by power-assisted four-wheel discs.
The bucket seats are upholstered in black vinyl and are complemented by a color-coordinated dashboard, door panels, and carpets. Amenities include a dashboard-mounted gearshift lever, a heater, lap belts, a push-button AM/FM radio, and an integrated center console. There is a split in the driver’s seat upholstery.
The wood-rimmed Personal steering wheel fronts a dual-binnacle cluster housing a Jaeger 8k-rpm tachometer and a 140-mph speedometer. Gauges indicating fuel level, oil pressure, and water temperature are located in the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 38k miles, approximately 2k of which were added under current ownership.
The 2.0L twin-cam inline-four was factory equipped with SPICA mechanical fuel injection, and it was fitted with a Weber 40DCOE carburetor conversion in the 1980s, according to the seller. The cylinder head is said to have been rebuilt and fitted with performance camshafts. The choke mechanism for the carburetors is not connected.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The transmission is said to have been rebuilt and the clutch was reportedly replaced in the 1980s. Oil residue is visible on the underside of the transmission, and additional photos of the underside are presented in the gallery.
