This 1970 Jaguar XKE Series II roadster was acquired new by the seller from Quality Motors in Triangle, Virginia, upon his return home from serving overseas. It underwent a refurbished that was completed in 1992 with work involving a repaint in red and an overhaul of the 4.2-liter inline-six. Shifting is through a four-speed manual transmission, and the car is also equipped with a black soft top, tan leather upholstery, 15″ knock-off wheels, a limited-slip differential, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, and a Pioneer stereo. This XKE roadster is now offered with the original sales invoice, the owner’s manual, spare parts, a car cover, and a clean Georgia title in the seller’s name.

The car was refinished in red in 1992 and fitted with a replacement black soft top. Additional details include a driver-side mirror, wraparound chrome bumpers, bright trim, and a louvered clamshell hood.

The 15″ wire wheels are secured by three-eared knock-offs and are mounted with 185-series Michelin tires. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors. Work carried out in January 2020 involved replacing the inner and outer tie rod ends, the upper ball joints, and the front wheel bearings.

The cabin features bucket seats upholstered in tan leather along with a color-coordinated center console, door panels, and carpets. A Pioneer CD player is linked to Pioneer speakers. The air conditioning does not work.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline as well as an analog clock and gauges for voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 27k miles, though the seller notes multiple periods when it was not working. Total mileage is unknown.

The 4.2-liter inline-six was factory equipped with dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and rated at 246 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque when new. The engine was overhauled during the refurbishment completed in 1992, and additional service in January 2019 included installing a PerTronix ignition system and replacing the carburetors.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential.

The initial sales invoice from Quality Motors in Triangle, Virginia, lists accessories and a total suggested retail price of $6,396.
