This 2003 Mercedes-Benz SL500 spent time in California and Utah before it was sold on BaT in October 2022, relocated to New Jersey, then purchased by the seller on BaT in February 2023. Finished in black over Charcoal leather upholstery, the car is powered by a 5.0-liter V8 paired with a five-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes the AMG Sport package, chromed 18″ AMG Monoblock wheels, Active Body Control suspension, xenon headlights, Distronic cruise control, Keyless Go, heated and ventilated seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, a Bose sound system, and COMAND with navigation. Work under current ownership consisted of changing the oil along with replacing the radiator, convertible-top motor, serpentine belt, spark plugs, valve-cover gaskets, and braking and suspension components as detailed below. This R230 has 86k miles and is now offered with a clean Carfax report and a clean Pennsylvania title in the seller’s name.

The car is finished in Black (040) and was optioned with the AMG Sport package’s revised lower bodywork. Exterior details include a power-folding convertible hardtop, xenon headlights, fog lights, dual exhaust outlets, and front-fender air vents. The convertible-top motor was replaced in October 2023. Photos provided in the gallery below show worn finishes alongside the rear window as well as a scrape on the rear bumper cover.

Chrome-plated 18″ AMG Monoblock alloy wheels are mounted with 255/40 front and 285/35 rear Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 tires that have 2015 production-date codes. The car features Active Body Control (ABC) suspension as well as an Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and Automatic Slip Control (ASR). Scrapes on the wheels are shown in the gallery, and the Carfax report indicates the rear brake pads were replaced in August 2024 along with one or more rear brake rotors and lower control arms.

The heated, ventilated, and power-adjustable seats have memory and massage functions and are upholstered in Charcoal leather. The door panels are trimmed to match, and burl walnut accents the interior. Additional appointments include dual-zone automatic climate control, Distronic cruise control, Coco-style floor mats, Keyless Go, a Bose sound system, a five-disc CD changer, and COMAND with navigation. The navigation system has not been activated, and tears in the seat upholstery are depicted in the gallery.

The walnut- and leather-trimmed steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. The digital odometer indicates 86k miles, approximately 3k of which were added under current ownership.

The 5.0-liter M113 V8 was factory rated at 302 horsepower and 339 lb-ft of torque. The oil was most recently changed in August 2024, and records indicate the radiator, serpentine belt, and idler pulley were replaced under current ownership along with the spark plugs and valve-cover gaskets.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed automatic transmission.

The Carfax report is free of accident or damage entries.
