This 1971 Oldsmobile 442 convertible is one of 1,304 examples built for the model year and was acquired by the current owners in 1992. A subsequent body-off refurbishment performed from 1993 to 1995 involved a repaint, an interior re-trim, and installation of a replacement 455ci V8. The car is finished in brown with contrasting gold graphics and wears a W-25–style hood as well as a power-operated white convertible soft top. On the inside, the front bucket seats are trimmed in tan vinyl and split by a center console. The engine is equipped with a Rochester Quadrajet carburetor and linked with a three-speed Turbo-Hydramatic automatic transmission as well as a limited-slip rear axle. Additional equipment includes 14″ Super Stock wheels, power-assisted brakes, and power steering along with a split-spoke steering wheel, an AM/FM radio, and a cabin heater. This 442 is now offered in Cody, Wyoming, on dealer consignment with manufacturer’s literature and a binder of refurbishment photos as well as a clean Montana title.

The car left the factory finished in Sable Brown (68) and was repainted as part of the aforementioned body-off refurbishment completed in the early 1990s. Contrasting gold graphics were applied to the hood and bodysides, the bumpers were rechromed, and various exterior brightwork was replaced at that time. The power-operated white convertible top is fitted with a glass rear window, and the W-25–style hood is secured with pins. Further details include “442” badging, quad headlights, dual side mirrors, and dual exhaust outlets with trumpet-style finishers.

The 14″ Super Stock wheels that feature body-color centers as well as chrome trim rings. Goodyear Eagle ST tires measuring 235/60 are mounted at all four corners. The car is equipped with power steering, and braking is handled by power-assisted front disc and rear drum brakes.

The front bucket seats and rear bench have been reupholstered in tan vinyl and are accompanied by replacement brown carpets. Woodgrain trim accents the dash, center console, and door panels. Interior appointments include an AM/FM radio, a cabin heater, and lap belts.

The split-spoke steering wheel fronts a 120-mph speedometer flanked by a combination gauge and a tachometer with an inset clock. The five-digit odometer shows 69k chassis miles.

The replacement 455ci V8 was installed as part of the aforementioned 1990s refurbishment. It is equipped with a Rochester Quadrajet carburetor as well as a black-finished air cleaner housing with Oldsmobile 442 branding. Photos of various identifying markings are presented in the gallery.
