This 1988 Volkswagen Cabriolet is a triple-white example powered by a 1.8-liter inline-four paired with a five-speed manual transaxle. The replacement white convertible top is complemented by a matching vinyl top boot, and the car is equipped with power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes, color-matched 14″ Avus alloy wheels, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, auxiliary gauges, an aftermarket stereo, and air conditioning. The current owner purchased the car in 2023, and service in 2024 reportedly consisted of overhauling the power steering along with replacing the fuel pump, spark plugs and wires, and accessory belts. This Cabriolet is now offered at no reserve in Ohio by the seller on behalf of the owner with a Carfax report and a clean Massachusetts title in the owner’s name.

The car is finished in Alpine White and features a replacement white soft top with a heated rear glass window as well as color-matched top boot, a black roll bar, quad round headlights with replacement bulbs, and dual remote-controlled side mirrors. The Carfax report notes a 2012 accident resulting in damage to the front and left front, and the seller states the hood was repainted. Paint blemishes and imperfections are shown in the photo gallery below.

White-finished 14″ Avus alloy wheels are mounted with Dunlop Enasave tires measuring 165/65. The car was factory equipped with an independent suspension, and braking is provided by power-assisted four-wheel discs that the seller states received replacement brake pads in July 2024. Further work in preparation for the sale reportedly included replacing the power steering rack, reservoir, mount, and hoses along with the left outer tie rod.

The front sport seats and the contoured rear seats are upholstered in white cloth with patterned inserts, and appointments include a Jensen Bluetooth-capable head unit, replacement green carpets, front vent windows, and air conditioning. Stains are visible on the seat upholstery along with a tear on the driver seat base. The air conditioning fan relay is said to have been replaced in September 2024 along with the blower fan switch and the hazard light switch.

The four-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel fronts a 120-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, a digital clock, and gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. Auxiliary gauges for voltage, oil pressure, and oil temperature are mounted in the center console. The six-digit odometer shows 85k miles, approximately 1k of which were added under current ownership. The dash lights do not work.

The transverse-mounted 1.8-liter inline-four was factory rated at 90 horsepower and 100 lb-ft of torque, which is sent to the front wheels through a five-speed manual transaxle. Work in September 2024 reportedly consisted of an oil change and replacement of the following components:

  • Downpipe seal and clamps
  • Spark plugs and ignition wires
  • Accessory drive belts
  • Fuel pump
  • Shift linkage
  • Left inner CV boot

Additional underside photos are presented in the gallery below.

The Carfax report lists the aforementioned May 2012 accident.
