This 1932 Plymouth is a steel-bodied roadster that was acquired by the current owner in 2005 and subsequently built into a hot rod. Power comes from a 350ci Chevrolet V8 equipped with a Pete Jackson Gear Drive timing set, roller rockers, ported and polished cylinder heads, a high-rise intake manifold, dual Edelbrock 600-cfm carburetors, and side-exit exhaust pipes. The car rides on a boxed frame with a four-link front suspension, rear ladder bars with adjustable coilovers, and a SO-CAL Speed Shop concealed front disc brake system. Backing the engine is a TH350 three-speed automatic transmission and a 9” rear end, and additional equipment includes gray cloth upholstery, a wood dashboard, a tilting steering column, a Hurst shifter, and VDO instrumentation. This Plymouth hot rod is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner with a soft top boot and a clean Michigan title.
The steel body is finished in orange, and stylized panels on either side of the exposed engine compartment are incorporated into white and yellow flame graphics that extend rearward from the radiator surround. Additional details include a chrome grille insert, coach doors, round side mirrors, and teardrop taillights. Paint chips and cracks around the car are shown up close in the image gallery below.
American Racing 15” alloy wheels are mounted with 215/70 Goodyear Integrity tires up front and 275/60 Continental TouringContact AS units out back. The suspension features a front drop axle with a transverse leaf spring and a polished four-link setup, while the live rear axle is supported by ladder bars and adjustable coilovers. SO-CAL Speed Shop concealed front disc brakes are supplemented by rear drums.
The cabin houses reclining bucket seats trimmed in gray cloth with orange piping, and the door panels are debossed with flame patterns. A wood dashboard fascia and door trim have been installed along with a Hurst floor shifter.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel is mounted to a tilting column and fronts VDO instrumentation consisting of a 120-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for fuel level, alternator output, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 6k miles. The seller notes that the speedometer needs to be calibrated, and total chassis mileage is unknown.
The 350ci Chevrolet V8 is said to feature a Pete Jackson Gear Drive timing set, a 10.5:1 compression ratio, roller rockers, and ported and polished cylinder heads. The engine is further equipped with a high-rise intake manifold, dual Edelbrock 600-cfm carburetors, and polished four-into-one headers with side exhaust pipes. A polished firewall cover has been added, and the electrical system has been converted to 12-volt operation.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a TH350 three-speed automatic transmission, a 2,800-rpm-stall torque converter, and a 9” rear end. Bubbling paint and corrosion on the underside can be viewed in the gallery.
The car is titled using the VIN MVIN21591IND, which has been inscribed on the plaque shown above.
