This 1964 Triumph Spitfire was refurbished and retrofitted under previous ownership with a GT-sourced overbored 2.0-liter inline-six, a GT6-specification frame, a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive, and a Rotoflex differential before it was acquired by the seller on BaT in October 2020. Triple Zenith-Stromberg carburetors, an alloy valve cover, a stainless-steel exhaust system, 13″ VTO alloy wheels, and a GT6 hood were also added, and further equipment consists of fender-mounted mirrors, a luggage rack, replacement red vinyl upholstery, and a wooden dashboard insert and shift knob. Work following the seller’s acquisition included the installation of halogen headlights and horns, trimming the exhaust tips, adjusting the steering rack, and balancing the carburetors. This modified Spitfire is now offered at no reserve with parts invoices, a removal soft top and frame, and a clean North Carolina title in the seller’s name that lists the car as a 1967 model.

The body is said to have been refinished in the factory shade of Signal Red (32) under previous ownership, and it is mounted on a frame that was reportedly sourced from a 1972 GT6. A GT6-specification hood with top and side louvers was installed during the build, and additional details include fender-mounted mirrors, a luggage rack, and chrome-plated bumpers. Halogen headlights and horns were installed under current ownership, according to the seller. A replacement black soft top and a stowable top frame are included in the sale. Photos of paint chips, cracks, and imperfections are viewable in the gallery below.

The 13″ VTO alloy wheels are mounted with 185/60 Accelera Alpha tires. The rear suspension utilizes GT6-specification components, and braking is handled by front discs and rear drums. The seller states that the steering rack was adjusted in 2020.

The bucket seats were reupholstered in red vinyl with white piping under previous ownership, and the are complemented by a black dashboard pad, door panels, and carpeting. Additional appointments include a heater, Triumph-branded rubber floor mats, and a wooden shift knob. The Triumph-branded AM radio is said to be disconnected.

A three-spoke steering wheel fronts a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 6k-rpm redline, and gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 32k miles, approximately 3,600 of which were added under current ownership. The tachometer reads high.

The GT6-sourced 2.0-liter inline-six was overhauled and fitted with .020″ oversized pistons circa 2014, and it has been fitted with a performance camshaft, an alloy valve cover, an oil cooler, and triple Zenith-Stromberg carburetors. The seller reports that the carburetors were balanced in 2022.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with a J-type overdrive unit. The transmission, overdrive, and retrofitted Rotoflex differential are said to have been overhauled under previous ownership, and the car is equipped with a tubular header and a Bell stainless-steel system, the tailpipes of which were trimmed following the seller’s acquisition.

The commission number FC39254L on the data plate above is consistent with a 1964 Spitfire, and it is listed as the VIN on the current North Carolina title, which lists the car as a 1967 model.
