This 1960 Porsche 356B 1600S cabriolet was refurbished prior to 2001 and has been refinished in Ivory over blue leather. It is powered by a 1.6-liter flat-four paired with a four-speed manual transaxle, and features include a black convertible top, 15″ steel wheels, a driver-side mirror, vent windows, body-color bumpers, an AM/FM radio, and front bucket seats. The car was acquired by the seller in 2024, and work in preparation for the sale consisted of adjusting the valves and replacing the heat exchangers, exhaust pipes, spark plugs, fuel level sending unit, and valve cover gaskets. This 356B cabriolet is now offered with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, a copy of the Kardex, service records, spare parts, the owner’s manual, repair manuals, a tool kit, and a clean Hawaii title in the seller’s name.
The T5 body was introduced for the 1960 model year with revised front-end styling, including raised bumpers and headlights along with a redesigned front trunk lid handle. This Reutter-built example was finished from the factory in silver and was repainted Ivory some time ago. Features include a black soft top, a chrome driver-side mirror, a windshield washer system, vent windows, a single grille engine lid, gold-color Porsche 1600 badging, and body-color bumpers with chrome overriders.
The 15″ vented steel wheels wear Deluxe hubcaps and are mounted with 185/65 Firestone Affinity tires. The car was factory equipped with drum brakes at each corner. The brake master cylinder, wheel cylinders, and lines were reportedly replaced in early 2024, and the fluid was flushed in preparation for the sale. A spare wheel with a September 1960 date stamp is included in the sale. The seller notes that the emergency brake requires adjustment.
The front bucket seats and rear jump seats are upholstered in blue leather, and Oatmeal squareweave carpets line the floors. Interior appointments include a Blaupunkt AM/FM radio, lap belts, and a body-color painted dashboard.
The wood-rimmed Moto-Lita steering wheel frames green-letter VDO instrumentation including a 120-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline as well as a combination gauge for oil temperature and fuel level. The five-digit odometer was repaired in 2009 and shows 14k miles, approximately 100 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The 1.6-liter flat-four came equipped from the factory with dual Zenith carburetors and is paired with a four-speed manual transaxle. A valve adjustment and oil change were performed and the heat exchangers, exhaust pipes, valve cover gaskets, generator belt, fuel level sending unit, and spark plugs replaced in preparation for the sale. The removed exhaust system accompanies the vehicle.
