This 1952 MG TD/C Mark II was acquired by the seller from the reported original owner in Tucson, Arizona, in 1958 and was kept in Tucson until 2001, when the car was moved to Massachusetts. Subsequent refurbishment work involved rewiring the vehicle and also replacing the fuel pumps, windshield, convertible top, steering wheel, and upholstery. Finished in green over green leather, the vehicle is powered by a 1,250cc XPAG inline-four paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Other equipment includes a white soft top and matching side curtains, 15″ steel wheels, hubcaps, a luggage rack, a driving light, three sideview mirrors, and dual SU carburetors. This TD/C Mark II is now offered with a workshop manual, service records, spare parts, side curtains, a tonneau cover, a car cover, tools, and a clean Massachusetts title in the seller’s name.

The car is finished in green, and features include a white folding soft top and side curtains, a tonneau cover, a yellow driving light, a louvered hood, a folding windshield, a luggage rack, running boards, and chrome bumpers with overriders. One exterior mirror is affixed to the driver side of the car, and two are attached to the passenger side. The folding top and the windshield were replaced in 2010. Three vinyl patches measuring approximately one inch are found on the convertible top.

Silver-painted 15″ steel wheels wear polished hubcaps and are mounted with 265R15 radial tires that are said to have been replaced most recently in 2001. A spare wheel and tire are affixed to the rear of the car beneath a white soft cover. Braking is handled by drums at each corner.

The cabin houses a split bench seat that was retrimmed in green leather in 2010. Appointments include a passenger-side grab handle, door-panel map pockets, lap belts, and a dash-mounted rearview mirror. The seller notes wear in the cabin, the heater has been disconnected, and the vacuum-tube AM radio does not work.

The banjo-style steering wheel is attached to an adjustable column and was replaced in 2001. Jaeger instrumentation consists of a 100-mph speedometer and a tachometer with an inset clock as well as auxiliary gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, and amperage. Aftermarket gauges for vacuum and oil temperature are positioned ahead of the shifter. The five-digit odometer shows 88k miles, approximately 20k of which were added under current ownership; true mileage is unknown.

The 1,250cc XPAG inline-four is equipped with dual SU carburetors and was factory rated at 57 horsepower. The fuel pumps, hoses, and wiring reportedly were replaced in 2001. The seller notes that the engine shakes when the car is in reverse and traveling up a steep grade.

The engine stamping and tag are shown above.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The seller notes that the transmission lacks synchromesh in first gear, and the gear lever needs to be held in place when engaging first gear.

The car’s chassis number is TDC18896, whereas the Massachusetts title cites the engine number XPAGTD319173 in the VIN box; both of these sequences are visible on the tag pictured above. A photo in the gallery shows the engine tag.
