This 1954 Chevrolet Corvette was acquired by the seller in 1959, and work in the early 2000s included the installation of a GM Performance Parts ZZ430 350ci V8 crate engine, a Tremec five-speed manual transmission, and C4 Corvette-sourced front and rear suspension, four-wheel disc brakes, and rack-and-pinion steering. The exterior was refinished in white with teal racing stripes and modified with fender flares, side scoops, a cowl induction hood, and side-exit exhaust outlets, and the interior features C5-sourced bucket seats, Simpson harnesses, a custom-fabricated center console, a Tilton pedal assembly, and an aftermarket stereo system. This C1 Corvette is now offered with Corvette literature, magazine articles featuring the car, awards, memorabilia, a tonneau cover, and a clean New Jersey title in the seller’s name listing the car as a 1955 model.
The fiberglass body was refinished in white with teal racing stripes and modified with fender flares, side scoops, a cowl induction hood, and side-exit exhaust outlets, and the chrome trim and door handles were shaved. Driving lights are mounted behind the wire-mesh grille, and additional details include a brown convertible top, a curved windshield, wire-mesh headlight guards, a driver-side rearview mirror, a third brake light, and directional signals.
Boyds 17″ wheels are mounted with Goodyear Eagle F1 tires measuring 245/40 up front and 275/40 out back. The front and rear suspension components, four-wheel disc brakes, and power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering were sourced from a C4 Corvette. Bilstein front shocks and rear coilovers are fitted.
C5 Corvette-sourced bucket seats are trimmed in black leather and complemented by a color-coordinated dash pad and door panels. Interior appointments include a dash-mounted rear-view mirror, a Jensen CD stereo, an Alpine 360-watt amplifier, Simpson harnesses, a custom-fabricated center console, a floor-mounted shifter, a Tilton pedal assembly, and diamond-plate door sills.
A wood-rimmed steering wheel is mounted to an aftermarket steering column, and it fronts white-dial Classic Instruments instrumentation. The six-digit odometer shows 3k miles, and the seller states that approximately 700k miles are on the chassis.
The ZZ430 350ci V8 was installed in 2003 and features cast aluminum cylinder heads, a hydraulic roller tappet camshaft, long-tube headers, and an aluminum radiator. A fuel cell can be accessed via the trunk.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through an aluminum driveshaft and a Tremec five-speed manual transmission.
Awards, literature, magazine articles featuring the car, and memorabilia are included in the sale.
The current New Jersey title is listed as a replacement, and it denotes the car as a 1955 model year.
