This 1966 Ford Galaxie 500XL convertible was fitted with power-assisted front disc brakes and a replacement dashboard pad, shocks, ignition components, and valve cover gaskets before it was acquired by the seller on BaT in October 2023. It has also been repainted black with a reupholstered black interior, and the car is powered by a 352ci V8 mated to a three-speed automatic transmission and also equipped with a power-retractable black soft top, power steering, an aluminum radiator, a four-barrel carburetor, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, and a Bluetooth-capable Pioneer Bluetooth stereo. This Galaxie convertible is now offered with service records, manufacturer’s literature, two sets of keys, and a Washington title in the seller’s name.
The car was finished in Maroon Metallic from the factory and has been repainted black with red pinstripes. Features include a power-retractable black soft, quadruple stacked headlights, dual side mirrors, quarter vent windows, chrome bumpers, and dual exhaust outlets. Close-up photos of the exterior are presented in the gallery below.
Steel 15″ wheels wear styled covers and 205/75 Hankook Kinergy ST thin-whitewall tires, which were mounted in June 2022. The shocks were also replaced at that time, and the car has power-assisted front disc brakes with cross-drilled and slotted rotors as well as power steering.
The front bucket seats and rear bench have been reupholstered, and the color-coordinated dash cover was replaced in 2019. Woodgrain trim lines the dashboard and center console, and additional interior appointments include lap belts for all occupants, a push-button radio, and a Bluetooth-capable Pioneer stereo. Corrosion is visible on soft top mechanism components and there are stains on the headliner.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts a horizontal 120-mph speedometer, a fuel level gauge, and an analog clock. The five-digit odometer shows 8k miles, a few hundred of which were added under current ownership. The gauge cluster pod was replaced under previous ownership, and the total mileage is unknown.
The 352ci V8 is finished in blue and equipped with a four-barrel carburetor with an electric choke. An aluminum radiator is also fitted, and work in January 2022 included replacing the valve cover gaskets, spark plugs, ignition coils, starter, transmission mount, and distributor cap and rotor.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed Cruise-O-Matic automatic transmission.
Decoding the trim tag reveals the following information:
- Body 76B – Two-door convertible
- Color X – Vintage Burgundy paint
- Trim 86 – Black vinyl interior with bench seats
- Date 26H – August 26 build date
- DSO 15 – Newark, New Jersey district code

An owner’s manual, a car cover, and records are included in the sale.
