This 1990 Porsche 944 S2 cabriolet was purchased new by the seller at Vasek Polak Porsche in Hermosa Beach, California, and previously listed on BaT in May 2023. It is powered by a 3.0-liter inline-four paired with a five-speed manual transaxle and finished in black over black partial leather. Equipment includes a black convertible soft top, pop-up headlights, 16″ Design 90 alloy wheels, Koni shock absorbers, power-adjustable front seats, automatic climate control, cruise control, a Blaupunkt cassette stereo, a Kenwood amplifier, and a Autothority ECU chip. This 944 S2 cabriolet is offered at no reserve with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, a window sticker, service records, assorted literature, a ski rack, a car cover, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Kentucky title in the seller’s name.
The car is finished in black and features a black convertible soft top, pop-up headlights, fog lights, and a single exhaust outlet. The seller notes that the right front fender and left rear quarter panel were repaired and repainted following parking lot incidents. The right front side marker does not illuminate and there is a tear in the soft top rear window and paint chips on the front end.
The 16″ Design 90 alloy wheels are mounted with 225/50 front and 245/45 rear Bridgestone Potenza RE-11 tires. Braking is handled by four-wheel power-assisted ventilated discs with ABS. The car is equipped with Koni shock absorbers, aftermarket sway bars, and a Racing Dynamics front strut tower brace.
The power-adjustable front seats are trimmed in black leather and accompanied by a color-coordinated dashboard, door panels, and carpets. Amenities include dual front airbags, automatic climate control, cruise control, a Blaupunkt cassette stereo, and a Kenwood amplifier. The air conditioning system was recharged within the past year. The center console door lock switch is inoperative and there are holes in the rear side panels from a removed roll bar and the trunk carpet from a removed CD changer.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 170-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,400-rpm redline as well as gauges for coolant temperature, fuel level, oil pressure, and voltage. The turn signal indicator light does not illuminate. The six-digit odometer shows 153k miles and was repaired after a period of non-operation in May 2017. The total mileage is unknown.
The 3.0-liter M44/41 inline-four features Bosch engine management as well as an Autothority ECU chip. The timing belt and spark plugs were replaced in 2019 and the crankshaft position sensor, valve cover gasket, battery, and engine mounts were changed within the past year.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transaxle. Additional photographs of the underside are provided in the gallery below.
The window sticker lists initial delivery to Vasek Polak Porsche in Hermosa Beach, California, as well as factory colors, equipment, and a total of $52,129.
The Carfax report is free of accidents or other damage from an initial entry in July 1996.
