This 1979 MG Midget is a running project that was purchased by the seller in 1983 in Indiana and has remained in the state since. It is currently in need of a replacement clutch, and the radiator, timing cover, and crankshaft seal are leaking. The car is finished in yellow over black vinyl upholstery and is powered by a 1,493cc inline-four paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Features include a black convertible soft top, a top boot, 13″ Rostyle wheels, dual side mirrors, an AM/FM radio, a cabin heater, and front disc brakes. This Midget project now shows 70k miles and is being offered at no reserve with a clean Indiana title in the seller’s name.
The car was repainted in yellow in 1986, and it features a replacement black convertible soft top, a top boot, black rocker panels with Midget badging, dual side mirrors, and black rubber bumpers. Bubbling paint is visible on the left door and behind the left-rear tire, and chips are seen around the hood and trailing edge of the left door.
The 13″ Rostyle wheels are mounted with 155/80 Mastercraft A/S IV tires, and braking is handled by front discs and rear drums.
The seating surfaces are trimmed in black vinyl, and interior appointments include an AM/FM radio, rubber floor mats, and a cabin heater. The carpets were previously replaced, and the pedal covers are currently missing.
Instrumentation consists of a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 70k miles, approximately 53k of which were added under current ownership.
Power is provided by a 1,493cc inline-four which is linked to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The seller notes that the clutch needs to be replaced, and leaks in the radiator, timing cover, and crankshaft seal need to be repaired. The carburetor was replaced previously, and the alternator and battery were replaced in March 2024.
