This 1966 Chevrolet Corvette convertible is powered by a 427ci L72 V8 paired with a four-speed close-ratio manual transmission and the subject of a refurbishment completed in 2008. The seller states it has received both NCRS Top Flight and Bloomington Gold awards. It is finished in silver over black vinyl upholstery and is equipped with a Positraction differential, a black convertible soft top, 15″ Turbine-style aluminum wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, a cabin heater, an AM/FM radio, chrome bumpers, and retractable headlights. The current owner acquired it in 2022, and the clutch, flywheel, and radiator were replaced in December 2023. This C2 is now offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner with removed wheels and covers as well as Connecticut registration.

The fiberglass body was finished at the factory in Silver Pearl (986), and features include a black convertible soft top, a domed hood, flip-up headlights, chrome bumpers, fender vents, Soft Ray tinted glass, and a driver-side mirror. Wear marks in the paint near the base of the convertible top are noted.

The reproduction bolt-on 15″ Turbine-style aluminum wheels feature knock-off spinners and are mounted with BFGoodrich-branded goldline tires measuring 205/75. The C2 was the first Corvette to offer fully independent suspension, with upper and lower control arms at the front and a three-link setup with a transverse leaf spring at the rear. Braking is handled by four-wheel discs.

The cabin was refurbished in the 2008 and features two bucket seats upholstered in black vinyl as well as color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Amenities include a heater, an AM/FM radio, an analog clock, and lap belts.

The three-spoke steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for fuel level, amperage, oil pressure, and water temperature. The five-digit odometer shows under 61k miles, approximately 200 of which were added under current ownership.

The 427ci L72 V8 was factory rated at 425 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque and is equipped with a Holley four-barrel carburetor. A DeWitts radiator is said to have been installed in December 2023.

The engine stamping is shown above. The IP suffix corresponds with a 425-horsepower, 427ci L72 V8 for use with a manual transmission.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a Positraction differential. The clutch and flywheel are said to have been replaced in December 2023.

Decoding the trim tag reveals:

  • Style 66 467 – 1966 Corvette convertible
  • Body A-4294 – A.O. Smith body number
  • Trim STD – Black vinyl upholstery
  • Paint 986 – Silver Pearl

The car does not have a title, as it is registered in a state that does not issue titles for a vehicle of its age. It is being sold on its registration.
