This 1966 Triumph Spitfire was acquired by the seller in 2004 as a project, and a subsequent body-off refurbishment was completed in 2010. Finished in white over red vinyl, the car is powered by a 1,147cc inline-four mated to a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes a body-color hardtop, a black convertible top, dual SU carburetors, stainless-steel exhaust, wheel covers, and an AM radio. This Spitfire Mk II is now offered at no reserve with refurbishment photos, service records, assorted literature, and an Indiana title in the seller’s name that lists the model as C57.
During the aforementioned refurbishment, the body was removed from the frame, and rusted sections including the rocker panels, right-side A-pillar, and rear valance were cut out and replaced. The body panels and the tub were sandblasted and sealed, primed, and painted white before reassembly. Chrome trim was cleaned or replaced, and replacement bumpers and overriders were rechromed. The car comes with a body-color hardtop that has not been refurbished and exhibits flaws in the paint; the headliner has been replaced. The seller notes that the uninstalled black convertible top and its frame are in fair condition.
Steel 13″ wheels wear Spitfire-branded bright hubcaps and Kumho tires. The braking and suspension systems were overhauled during the refurbishment.
The seating surfaces were reupholstered in red vinyl with white piping under current ownership. The door panels, carpeting, and dashboard parcel trays were replaced during the refurbishment. A Triumph-branded AM radio is located ahead of the shifter, and the car also has lap belts.
The two-spoke steering wheel fronts a black dashboard housing Jaeger instrumentation including a 110-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 45k miles, approximately 5k of which were added under current ownership; true mileage is unknown.
The 1,147cc inline-four features replacement twin SU carburetors and a bronze-colored valve cover. The hoses, belts, and various hardware were replaced during the refurbishment, and the wiring harness was cleaned and checked before reinstallation. The firewall and battery compartment were refurbished using POR15 products. The oil was changed most recently in May 2023.
Power is distributed to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission. The frame has been sandblasted and powdercoated in white, and a stainless-steel exhaust system is installed.
Refurbishment photos will accompany the vehicle along with service records, workshop manuals, and parts catalogs.
