This 1967 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 Mk III was acquired by the seller in California in 1979 after the car had spent time in New Mexico. It relocated with the seller to Oregon approximately 20 years ago, and in 2017 the drivetrain was removed and rebuilt. The 2.9-liter inline-six received oversized pistons and a performance camshaft, and the four-speed manual transmission and Laycock de Normanville overdrive were rebuilt as well. Between 2020 and 2023 the brakes were overhauled and LED lighting was installed along with an alternator conversion and a stainless-steel performance exhaust system, the blue interior and top were refreshed, and Michelin tires were mounted on the chrome Dayton wire wheels. This 3000 Mk III is now offered with service records, spare parts, a car cover, and a clean Oregon title in the seller’s name.

The metallic blue and silver car has been repainted, and the seller notes that the blue soft top is Robbins Stayfast canvas that was installed within the last few years. The top boot and tonneau cover were also replaced and LED lighting was installed.

Chrome Dayton 15″ knock-off wire wheels were mounted with Michelin XAS tires in 2023. The front disc brakes were serviced with rebuilt calipers and replacement rotors and pads within the last four years, and the master cylinder was replaced in 2019.

The refreshed cabin features Blue Ambla vinyl upholstery with perforated inserts on the seats, matching upholstery on the center console, and color-coordinated carpeting.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths black-dial instrumentation consisting of a 140-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, a fuel-level gauge, and a combination gauge displaying oil pressure and water temperature. The speedometer was rebuilt in 2019 by Palo Alto Speedometer as the odometer was stopped at 68k miles and did not work, and it was subsequently reset to 500 miles, which represented the distance covered since the engine rebuild. The seller states they have added approximately 20k miles to the car during their ownership, and total chassis mileage is unknown.

The 2.9-liter inline-six was rebuilt between 2017 and 2019 with a bored and honed block, a polished crankshaft, oversized pistons, a custom welded and ground camshaft, refaced rockers, and a valve job. The engine bay was repainted at the same time, and an alternator conversion was subsequently performed.

The four-speed manual transmission with Laycock-de Normanville electric overdrive were also removed and rebuilt in 2017.

Service records, removed parts, and a lead hammer for the knock-offs are included in the sale.
