This 1999 Porsche 911 Carrera cabriolet is a Guards Red example that was offered on BaT in August 2023 before it was acquired by the seller, and subsequent work reportedly included replacing the air conditioning compressor and receiver drier as well as the air mass meter, accessory drive belt, passenger fan resistor, stereo head unit, front speakers, engine compartment strut, and tires. Powered by a 3.4-liter M96 flat-six paired with a six-speed manual transaxle, the car is equipped with a modified exhaust system, a black soft top, a deployable rear spoiler, 18″ Turbo-look wheels, power-adjustable front seats, Savanna Beige full leather upholstery, and a Hi-Fi sound system with DSP. Recent work completed has included installing remanufactured cylinder heads and replacing the IMS bearing, clutch components, and convertible top window, computer, and hydraulic cylinders. This 996.1 cabriolet has 69k miles and is now offered with manufacturer’s literature, recent service records, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Texas title in the seller’s name.
The car is finished in Guards Red and features a black convertible soft top as well as integrated fog lights, a deployable rear spoiler, tinted side windows, and dual exhaust outlets. The convertible top computer, rear window, and hydraulics were replaced between 2022 and 2023. The seller reports that the third brake light was repaired, the rear spoiler was adjusted, the convertible top drain was cleaned, and the engine compartment strut and the brake light switch were replaced under current ownership. There is a nick in the top material.
The 18″ Turbo-look wheels are mounted with 225/40 front and 265/35 rear General G-Max AS-05 that were installed under current ownership along with replacement wheel center caps. Braking is handled by four-piston Porsche-branded calipers fitted over cross-drilled rotors at all four corners. Imperfections on the wheels are viewable in the gallery below.
The power-adjustable front seats are upholstered in Savanna Beige supple leather that extends to the dashboard and door panels. Dark burr maple wood trim accents the right side of the dashboard and the door speaker grilles, and other features include driver-seat memory settings, cruise control, a cassette stereo, automatic climate control, and a Hi-Fi sound system with Digital Sound Processing (DSP). The seller states that replacement front speakers and a stereo head unit with Bluetooth connectivity were installed in December 2023. Wear is noted to the right of the stereo head unit, the ashtray does not stay closed, the steering wheel adjustment does not function, and the right door lock is inoperative.
The leather- and wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts a 180-mph speedometer, a central tachometer, and gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, voltage, and fuel level. The digital odometer indicates 69k miles, approximately 2,500 of which were added under current ownership. The seller notes the ignition switch was replaced in May 2024.
The 3.4-liter M96 flat-six was factory rated at 296 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. The IMS bearing was replaced in June 2023 with a European Parts Solutions kit. Additional work completed between 2022 and 2023 included the installation of remanufactured cylinder heads and replacing the rear main seals, coolant pipes, and various gaskets. The alternator, cabin air filter, and engine air filter were reportedly replaced in November 2023. An oil change was performed in February 2024, and service in preparation for the sale consisted of replacing the air conditioning compressor and receiver drier as well as the air mass meter, accessory drive belt, and passenger fan resistor.
Power is routed to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transaxle, the clutch components for which were replaced in June 2023. The rear resonators have been removed, and aftermarket exhaust finishers have been added.
