This 1959 Ford Fairlane 500 Galaxie Skyliner is said to have been acquired by the seller’s father in the early 1990s and subsequently refinished in Geranium and white, but the refurbishment was not completed until 2023. The interior is trimmed in Geranium vinyl upholstery with black and white accents, and power comes from a 332ci V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a power-retractable “Hide-Away” hardtop, a continental kit, a dual exhaust system, a heater, and a push-button AM radio. Service performed by the selling dealer in preparation for the sale included the installation of a replacement fuel tank, fuel pump, battery, brake lines, and tires, as well as an oil change and coolant flush. This Galaxie is now offered on behalf of the seller’s mother with a clean Ohio title.

The “Hide-Away” hardtop-equipped Skyliner entered its final model year in 1959 and was sold under Ford’s new range-topping Galaxie model lineup while retaining Fairlane 500 interior and exterior badges. A total of 12,915 examples were produced. This example is said to have been repainted in its factory Geranium and Colonial White (TE2) in the early 1990s. Features include quad headlights, a wrap-around windshield, a driver-side mirror, fender skirts, ribbed bright quarter panel trim, a continental kit, reverse lights, and a dual-exit exhaust. Blemishes are shown in the gallery below.

The 14″ steel wheels are mounted with 8.00-series whitewall tires. Braking is handled by four-wheel drums, and the seller states that the brakes and the steering and suspension bushings were serviced in 2023.

The cabin features front and rear bench seats trimmed in Geranium vinyl with black and white inserts and silver piping. Black carpets line the floors, and additional features include a push-button AM radio, a heater, and a locking glovebox.

The white three-spoke steering wheel features a chrome horn ring, and it fronts a 120-mph speedometer and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 52k miles, approximately 100 of which were added during current ownership.

The 332ci V8 was factory rated at 225 horsepower and features as well as a turquoise-finished air cleaner and Ford-branded valve covers.

Power is sent to the rear wheels via a three-speed automatic transmission.

The serial number reveals that the vehicle is a 1959 Ford Galaxie Skyliner built at Ford’s San Jose, California, assembly plant and powered by a 352ci V8 with a four-barrel carburetor. The data plate further decodes as follows:

  • Body 51A – Galaxie Skyliner Hide-Away hardtop convertible

  • Trim 48 – Radiant Geranium Soft-Textured vinyl bolsters and Raven-striped fabric upholstery with silver accents
  • Date 22K – October 22, 1958 production date
  • Trans 4 – Cruise-O-Matic automatic transmission
  • Axle 6 – 2.69:1 differential
