This 1974 Jaguar E-Type Series III roadster was sold new from Scott-Welch Motor Cars of Nashville, Tennessee, in November 1974, and it spent time with owners in Tennessee, Florida, and Georgia prior to being sold on BaT in December 2020 and later acquired by the seller in December 2022. Powered by a 5.3-liter V12 linked with a three-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential, the car is finished in red over black leather. Features include a black convertible top, a luggage rack, four-wheel disc brakes, power steering, 15” knock-off wire wheels, quadruple carburetors, air conditioning, and a retro-style aftermarket stereo with Bluetooth and USB connectivity. This Series III E-Type is now offered with records dating back to 1974, a window sticker, a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, manufacturer’s literature, and a clean Florida title in the seller’s name.

The car was finished from the factory in Regency Red and was repainted under prior ownership. Smaller bumper overriders have been fitted, and other equipment includes a black canvas convertible top, a black parade boot, uncovered headlights, a forward-hinged louvered hood, a power antenna, quad exhaust tips, and a luggage rack mounted on the deck lid. Paint imperfections are highlighted in the photo gallery below.

Chrome-finished 15″ wire-spoke wheels are secured with knock-off spinners and are mounted with 205/70 Vredestein Sprint Classic tires. The Series III E-Type was factory equipped with power steering, and stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes with inboard-mounted rear rotors.

The interior is trimmed in black leather with matching carpets and door panels. Equipment includes black shoulder belts, a padded center armrest, air conditioning, and an aftermarket SX-5513 stereo with Bluetooth and USB connectivity.

Smiths instrumentation consists of a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline, plus secondary gauges at the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 73k miles, approximately 1k of which have been added under current ownership.

The 5.3-liter V12 was factory equipped with quadruple Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and was rated at 241 horsepower and 285 lb-ft of torque when new.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission that was rebuilt in 2018. The car also has a limited-slip differential and a stainless-steel exhaust system.

The Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate details factory colors and identification numbers and shows a manufacture date of April 1, 1974.
