This 1970 Ford Mustang convertible was acquired by the seller’s father-in-law in 1978, and it was passed on to the seller in 2003. In 2023, it was used as the “get away” honeymoon car in a family wedding. The Bright Yellow exterior was repainted in the 1980s and the three-speed automatic transmission was overhauled in the late 1990s, and within the last two years the 302ci V8 was serviced and the bucket seats were reupholstered. The car has a power-operated black soft top, power steering, power-assisted front disc brakes, and 14″ steel wheels with polished covers. This Mustang convertible is now offered in Texas with the owner’s manual, service records, and a clean Oklahoma title in the seller’s name.
The car was ordered in Bright Yellow (D) and was repainted circa 1985. The power-operated black soft top was replaced in 1996, and the headlight switch was replaced in 2024. There are chips on the right-front fender and behind the right-rear wheel.
The 14″ steel wheels feature polished covers and wear 215/70 BFGoodrich tires that were mounted in 2019. The car is equipped with power steering, and braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums. The seller states a John’s Mustang front-end rebuild kit was installed in 2020.
The high-back bucket seats were fitted with replacement upholstery from John’s Mustang in 2024, and the trunk was refreshed in 2007 with insulation and a replacement mat. The car was ordered with a center console, and the AM radio requires service or replacement.
The two-spoke steering wheel frames a 120-mph speedometer and a combination fuel-level and coolant-temperature gauge. The five-digit odometer shows 68k miles, approximately 22k of which were added under current ownership. LED backlighting has been installed and the cluster circuit board has been replaced.
The 302ci V8 was fitted with PerTronix electronic ignition components in 2022, at which time the spark plugs were replaced. The two-barrel carburetor was rebuilt in 2023 and the fuel system was overhauled with a replacement pump and lines. The alternator, voltage regulator, and starter solenoid were replaced and an oil change was performed in 2024.
Power is routed to the rear wheels via a three-speed automatic transmission that was overhauled in 1998.
Manufacturer’s literature and service records shown in the gallery are included in the sale.
