This 1974 Alfa Romeo Spider is powered by a 2.0-liter inline-four and has been modified with dual Weber carburetors, high-compression pistons, a ported and polished cylinder head, a performance camshaft, Bilstein shocks, and Centerline lowering springs. The owner bought the car on BaT in September 2021, and service that year included rebuilding the trailing arms, installing a sump guard and exhaust heat shield, and replacing the soft top, windshield, and tires. Service in preparation for the sale included rebuilding the rear sway bar, replacing the spark plugs, and changing the fluids. This 115-series Spider is now offered on behalf of the owner with service records and a clean California title.
The Pininfarina-designed spider features side coves, bright metal trim, and integrated stainless steel and rubber bumpers. This example was refinished in the factory white in 2008. Rust repair was reportedly carried out at the base of the windshield before the respray, and the selling dealer notes spots of rust ahead of the doors. The soft top and windshield were replaced in November 2021, and the headlight wiring was repaired in preparation for the sale.
The 14″ Campagnolo Daytona wheels have been mounted with 185/70 Pirelli CN36 tires since the last auction. The factory Personal wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts a suite of instrumentation that includes a 140-mph speedometer, an 8k tachometer, and fuel level, oil pressure, and coolant temperature gauges. The odometer shows 61k miles, approximately 3k of which were added by the seller. The fuel level sender and some of the dash bulbs were replaced in 2021. Total mileage is unknown.
The 2.0-liter inline-four has been fitted with twin Weber side-draft carburetors in place of the factory SPICA fuel injection system. The engine is said to have been rebuilt in 2008 with a ported and polished cylinder head, high-compression JE pistons, and a Centerline European-style camshaft. Service in November 2021 included adjusting the valves, cleaning the fuse box, installing an exhaust heat shield and sump guard, and replacing the horns. Service in preparation for the sale included changing the engine oil, differential gear oil, transmission fluid, and clutch hydraulic fluid, flushing the coolant, and replacing the spark plugs.
