This 1967 Lotus Elan S3 convertible was reportedly purchased by the seller’s grandfather in 1973, and it has been fitted with a Spyder replacement frame. The car is finished in green and yellow over green and white upholstery, and power is supplied by a 1.6-liter inline-four mated to a four-speed manual transmission. Additional equipment includes a black soft top, pop-up headlights, a roll bar, latch-and-link lap belts, a stopwatch, and 13″ alloy wheels. The brakes were serviced in 2023 and the starter motor and fuel loom were replaced. This Elan S3 convertible is offered by the seller on behalf of the late owner’s estate with recent records, a workshop manual, and a clean Massachusetts title.
The body has been refinished in green with a yellow tail panel and stripes and black bumpers. A Spyder replacement frame was installed some time ago, and the car is equipped with a black soft top. Rust is noted on the sides of the doors and under the hood. The trunk struts require replacement. Paint cracks and other finish flaws are shown up close in the gallery.
The 13″ alloy wheels are mounted with 145-series Michelin all-season tires. The rear brake calipers were rebuilt, while the front calipers, brake master cylinder, front and rear pads, and hoses were replaced in August 2023.
The fixed-back seats are upholstered in green with white inserts. Latch-and-link lap belts are fitted and a roll bar has been added behind the seats. A fire extinguisher is mounted in the passenger footwell.
A leather-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for coolant temperature and oil pressure. An ammeter and a stopwatch are mounted in the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows 65k miles. The oil gauge line was replaced in 2023.
The 1.6-liter inline-four features twin overhead camshafts and was factory rated at 105 horsepower and 108 lb-ft of torque.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The fuel loom and starter motor were replaced in August 2023.
The Massachusetts title is listed as a duplicate.
