This 1961 Lincoln Continental convertible was purchased by the owner in 2019 and subsequently refurbished and modified. The body was refinished in ivory, a red soft top was installed, and the interior was re-trimmed in diamond-stitched red leather. An air suspension system was installed with a four-link out back and custom tubular control arms up front, and the car was also fitted with cross-drilled front disc brakes, a Bluetooth-capable stereo system, and Dakota Digital gauges. Power is provided by a 430ci V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission, and additional equipment includes a dual exhaust system, a power-adjustable front bench, air conditioning, a Colorado Custom steering wheel, power windows, and 18″ Colorado Custom wheels with full covers. This Continental convertible is now offered on dealer consignment with a car cover, a build sheet, a convertible top service manual, service records, and a transferable New York registration document.

The car was refinished in ivory under current ownership, and exterior details include a power-operated red convertible top, LED headlights, rear-hinged rear doors, a driver-side mirror, a retractable antenna, a Lincoln hood ornament, and chrome bumpers and trim. A tear in the replacement soft top is pictured in the gallery below. Paint chips are also pictured along with a bubble at the lower-rear corner of the right-rear door and a crack in the driver’s headlight.

The 18″ Colorado Custom wheels are mounted with 235/60 Federal whitewall radial tires. The car rides on adjustable airbags with a triangulated four-link system out back and a custom front setup using tubular upper control arms and lower control arms with diagonal front locating links. The car is equipped with power steering and power-assisted brakes with cross-drilled front discs and rear drums. The brake master cylinder was replaced in 2024.

The interior was re-trimmed by McCoys Upholstery in Queens, New York with custom quilted red leather upholstery in a diamond-stitched pattern along with a red dash covering and red and black carpets. The car is equipped with air conditioning, a power-adjustable front bench, power windows, and a Bluetooth-compatible stereo unit with aftermarket speakers.

The three-spoke Colorado Customs steering wheel fronts a Dakota Digital instrument package with a 120-mph speedometer and inset tachometer surrounded by auxiliary gauges and two digital readouts. The digital odometer shows 0 miles. Total mileage is unknown.

The 430ci V8 was factory equipped with a two-barrel carburetor and was rated at 300 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque. An exhaust manifold gasket and the spark plug wires were replaced in preparation for the sale.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a dual-range three-speed automatic transmission and a 2.89:1 limited-slip differential.

The serial number indicates the car is a 1961 Continental four-door convertible built in Wixom, Michigan, and powered by a 430ci V8. Further decoding the door tag reveals the following information:

  • Body: 74A – Continental four-door convertible
  • Color: M – Sultan White paint
  • Trim: 85 – Red leather upholstery
  • Date: 14B  – February 14th build date
  • Transmission: 4 – Dual-range three-speed automatic
  • Axle: G – 2.89:1 limited-slip differential

A build sheet is depicted above and is included in the sale.
