This 1920 Dodge Brothers Model 30 Roadster is said to have remained with one family between 1957 and the seller’s purchase on BaT in March 2022. The car is finished in black with a matching soft top and upholstery and retains a 212ci L-head inline-four and three-speed sliding-gear manual transmission. The car has not been started in approximately five years and will require service prior to use. This Model 30 roadster project is now offered at no reserve with spare parts and a clean Indiana title in the seller’s name.
The Dodge Brothers Company began building cars under their own name in 1914 with the Model 30-35, an upscale competitor to the Ford Model T that started at $785. This Model 30 is finished in black and features a rear trunk, running boards, and a Dodge Brothers-branded radiator cap. The black soft top is said to be brittle, and it is unknown when it was last lowered. The floorboards and running boards have been replaced.
The 25″ wood-spoke wheels feature steel rims and are mounted with BFGoodrich Silvertown bias-ply tires. A spare rim with a Firestone tire is mounted out back. The Model 30 rode on a 114″ wheelbase from 1917 onward, and stopping power is provided by mechanical rear drums.
The single bench seat is trimmed in black leather upholstery that shows areas of cracking.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel is mounted ahead of a steel dash housing Dodge Brothers instrumentation including a 60-mph speedometer and gauges for amperage and oil pressure. The four-digit odometer shows 3,600 miles. Total mileage is unknown. The speedometer glass is cracked.
The 212ci L-head inline-four retains a single updraft carburetor, a distributor, a generator, and other accessories. A 12-volt electrical system was standard from the factory. The engine is said to have been last serviced approximately five years ago with a cleaning of the carburetor. The car has not been run since, and service will be required prior to use. The car is titled by its engine number, 578087.
A three-speed sliding-gear manual transmission is also retained. Corrosion is noted by the seller.
A collection of spare parts is included in the sale.
