This 1983 Mercedes-Benz 500SL was imported from Europe to the US in 1983 and purchased by the seller’s father in 1989. Power is provided by a 5.0-liter V8 that drives the rear wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission, and the car is finished in white over Dark Brown leather upholstery. Riding on chrome-finished 14″ Bundt alloy wheels, the car is further equipped with Bilstein shocks, power windows, heated bucket seats, automatic climate control, a Becker stereo, and a brown convertible soft top. This R107 is now offered with a hardtop storage stand, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Georgia title in the seller’s name.
The car left the factory finished in Champagne Metallic and was repainted white at the time of the seller’s father’s acquisition. A replacement brown convertible soft top was installed in 2016, and additional exterior details include a top boot, fog lights, dual side mirrors, chrome bumpers, and polished aluminum trim. The power antenna is inoperative.
The 14″ Bundt alloy wheels are finished in chrome and mounted with a mixed set of Michelin and BFGoodrich tires measuring 205/70. Bilstein shocks were installed at each corner in 2018, and braking is handled by four-wheel power-assisted disc brakes.
The heated bucket seats are trimmed in Dark Brown leather that extends to the door panels. Zebrano wood trim accents the dashboard and center stack, and amenities include automatic climate control, cruise control, a Becker Grand Prix AM/FM/cassette stereo, power windows, and carpeted floor mats. The seller notes erratic behavior with the stereo.
The four-spoke steering wheel frames a tachometer with a 6k-rpm redline and an inset analog clock as well as a 160-mph speedometer and gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 124k miles, approximately 2k of which were added by the seller. The speedometer was replaced with a US version at the time of importation, therefore true mileage is unknown.
The 5.0-liter M117 V8 sends power to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission. An oil change was most recently carried out in April 2024.
