This 1965 Ford Mustang convertible underwent a refurbishment completed before it was featured in the October 2001 issue of Mustang Monthly. Work consisted of mounting the car on a rotisserie before a color change to Poppy Red, rebuilding the 289ci V8, installing front disc brakes, and overhauling the suspension. The car has also been modified with a five-speed manual transmission and a modern sound system, and it is also equipped with an Edelbrock intake manifold, Hedman headers, a black convertible soft top, 14″ Magnum 500 wheels, Rally Pac instruments, and front bucket seats with Parchment upholstery. This Mustang was purchased by the seller in 2023 and is now offered with a New Jersey title in the seller’s name.

During the refurbishment the car was disassembled, mounted on a rotisserie, and corrosion was repaired before it was refinished in its current shade of Poppy Red. The power-operated black soft top was also replaced, though the seller notes that there is a quarter-sized hole on the right side.

The car was featured in the October 2001 issue of Mustang Monthly following the refurbishment. A copy is included in the sale.

The 14″ Magnum 500 wheels are mounted with 205/70 Cooper Cobra Radial GT tires. Front disc brakes were installed and the suspension was overhauled during the refurbishment.

The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench trimmed in Parchment vinyl. A vintage-look stereo is mounted in the color-coordinated dashboard, and Mustang-logo mats line the contrasting carpeting.

A Pioneer amplifier has been mounted in the trunk.

Instrumentation consists of a 120-mph speedometer flanked by gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, amperage, and coolant temperature. A 6k-rpm tachometer and analog clock are mounted aft the steering wheel. The five-digit odometer shows under 20k miles, though the seller states it is not accurate, and total mileage is unknown.

The 289ci V8 was rebuilt at the time of the refurbishment by Wayne’s Automotive in Midlothian, Virginia with an Edelbrock Performer intake manifold, an Autolite 4100 four-barrel carburetor, Hedman headers, and PerTronix ignition as well as a Cobra dress-up kit.

The five-speed manual transmission is linked to an Auburn differential with 3.55:1 Richmond gears. The dual exhaust system has a crossover pipe.

The title carries a Not Actual Mileage odometer code.
