This 1980 MG MGB Roadster is a Limited Edition example that was acquired by the seller in 2022, and subsequent service included installing polyurethane suspension bushings, overhauling the braking system, and replacing the steering rack boots, wheel bearings, and various seals. It is finished in black with silver side stripes over beige vinyl and is powered by a 1.8-liter inline-four paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes GKN 14″ alloy wheels, a front air dam, fog lights, a luggage rack, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a wooden shift knob, and a Smiths heater. This MGB is now offered at no reserve with a car cover and a clean North Carolina title in the seller’s name.
The car is finished in black with silver MGB-branded side stripes. Additional equipment includes a black top boot, a front air dam, fog lights, a trunk-mounted luggage rack, door-mounted mirrors, ANSA exhaust tips, and black rubber bumpers. The repaired soft top needs replacement, and exposed primer on the right door and fender and a dent on the hood are noted.
The GKN 14″ alloy wheels are mounted with 185/70 Michelin X Radial tires that the seller notes should be replaced before extended driving. A spare wheel and tire are located in the trunk. Braking is provided by power-assisted front discs and rear drums. Service under current ownership included installing polyurethane suspension bushings, overhauling the braking system, refinishing the front suspension components, and replacing the steering rack boots, wheel bearings, and various seals.
The cabin houses bucket seats upholstered in beige vinyl that extends to the door panels. Interior appointments include a center console, a heater, and a wooden shift knob. The air conditioning system is nonfunctional and missing the compressor and condenser.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel fronts a tachometer, an 85-mph speedometer, an analog clock, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 80k miles. The fuel level gauge and radio are inoperative.
The 1.8-liter inline-four was factory equipped with a single Stromberg carburetor, and it routes power to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The seller reports areas of the engine bay have been touched up under current ownership, and additional work at that time included refinishing the Smiths heater assembly, repairing rust on the heater tray, adjusting the valves, and replacing the coolant hoses and fan belts. Photos taken during the work completed can be seen in the gallery.
Corrosion is noted on underside components, additional photos of which are provided below.
