This 1964 MGB Roadster was acquired by the current owner as a non-running project in July 2024. Finished in Old English White, the car is equipped with a 1.8-liter inline-four, a single Weber carburetor, a four-speed manual transmission, front disc brakes, 14″ wire-spoke wheels, a cabin heater, an aftermarket steering wheel, and Jaeger instrumentation. This MGB is offered by the seller on behalf of their spouse with spare parts and a Maine registration in the spouse’s name.
Bodywork was started under previous ownership and the car was repainted Old English White. The seller notes that additional bodywork is required around the car.
Silver-finished 14″ wire-spoke wheels are secured to the hubs with two-eared knock-off spinners and are mounted with Mastercraft tires. The braking system features front discs and rear drums.
The stripped cabin is equipped with a heater and shift and parking brake levers. The rear bulkhead has been cut away and replaced with a diamond-plate aluminum panel.
An aftermarket steering wheel is fitted along with a Jaeger 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for oil pressure and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 2,100 miles.
The replacement 1.8-liter inline-four is equipped with a single Weber carburetor conversion and a polished valve cover.
The engine number “18G-U-H-11914” shown above does not match the engine number “18G-U-H-13369” referenced on the BMIHT certificate, a photo of which is presented in the gallery.
The car is equipped with a four-speed manual transmission. The floor pans were replaced under previous ownership, corrosion is visible on various underside components, and fuel is weeping from the fuel tank.
The seller notes that the following parts accompany the car:
- SU carburetors
- Exhaust manifold and muffler
- Exhaust header for Weber carburetor
- Brake and clutch hydraulic cylinders
- Two convertible top frames
- Convertible top
- Chrome-finished bumpers
- Front and rear light assemblies
- Chrome side trim
- Factory seat assemblies
- Tonneau cover
The car does not have a title as it is registered in a state that does not issue titles for vehicles of its age. It is being sold on its transferrable Maine registration.
