The 1957 MG MGA roadster was acquired by the current owner in 2021 and was subsequently fitted with a replacement inline-four, which has been bored to displace 1.6-liters and fitted with a Weber carburetor and a Cannon intake manifold. The car is finished in green over tan upholstery, and additional equipment includes a four-speed manual transmission, a tan soft top, a Kenwood AM/FM/cassette stereo, an aluminum radiator, and chrome 15” wire wheels. This MGA is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner with a tonneau cover and a clean New Mexico title listing the car as a 1958 model.
The body has been repainted green and features a tan soft top, bullet-style side mirrors, and chrome bumpers with overriders.
Chrome 15” knock-off wire wheels wear two-eared spinners and are mounted with older 165-series Metric Radial tires that the seller recommends replacing. Braking is handled by four-wheel drums.
The low-back bucket seats and center armrest are trimmed in tan with green piping and are joined by color-coordinated door panels and cap rails. Green carpets line the floors, and a Kenwood AM/FM/cassette stereo is connected to speakers mounted in the kick panels and behind the seats. Wear on the driver’s seat and carpets can be viewed in the gallery.
The banjo-style steering wheel fronts a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 6k-rpm redline, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 71k miles, approximately 100 of which have been added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The replacement inline-four was reportedly rebuilt by La Carrera Garage in Santa Fe, New Mexico under current ownership. The cylinders were bored to a displacement of 1.6 liters, and induction is through a Weber downdraft carburetor and a Cannon intake manifold. The aluminum radiator is cooled by an electric pusher fan. The seller states that the engine leaks and burns oil.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. Corrosion is noted on underbody components, additional photos of which can be viewed in the gallery.
The car is titled using engine number 15GBUH27468.
