This 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu convertible was acquired by the seller’s father in 1990 at a car show in North Carolina and was passed to the seller in 2021. It was recently repainted in burgundy with white stripes and wears an SS-style grille and badging along with a cowl-induction hood and a white convertible top. Power is supplied by a 350ci V8 fitted with an Edelbrock AVS2 four-barrel carburetor and aluminum intake manifold, while shifting is through a retrofitted four-speed manual transmission. Further equipment includes 15″ SS-style wheels and a dual exhaust system along with a Hurst shifter, an aftermarket stereo, and black vinyl–trimmed bench seats. This Chevelle is now offered with a car cover and a clean Virginia title.
The car was repainted in its current burgundy finish with white stripes in May 2024. It features a cowl-induction hood with locking pins along with an SS-style grille and badging. The seller notes that the door handles and side mirrors were recently replaced and a tear in the white convertible top has been patched.
The 15″ SS-style wheels wear bright trim rings and are wrapped with Cooper Cobra Radial G/T white-letter tires. The car is equipped with power steering, and braking is handled by drums at each corner. The seller states that the wheels and tires were mounted in May 2021, the brakes were serviced in April 2022, and the front shocks were replaced in March 2023.
The front and rear bench seats are upholstered in black vinyl, and lap belts are equipped for four occupants. A Bluetooth-capable Blaupunkt stereo is connected with a Rockford Fosgate subwoofer and Kenwood speakers. A fire extinguisher is stored in the front-passenger footwell, and further interior appointments include a cabin heater, a glovebox, and hand-crank windows.
A split-spoke sport steering wheel is paired with a floor-mounted Hurst shifter and fronts a horizontal 120-mph speedometer and a fuel-level gauge. An Autogage tachometer is mounted to the steering column, and additional auxiliary gauges are located below the dash. The five-digit odometer has rolled over and shows 12k miles. The current Virginia title notes a 109k-mile odometer reading.
The 350ci V8 has been fitted with an Edelbrock AVS2 four-barrel carburetor and aluminum intake manifold in May 2021. A replacement alternator and water pump are said to have been installed in March 2023 along with a four-core aluminum radiator. The seller notes an oil leak.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission, which was installed in place of the factory automatic unit under previous ownership. An aftermarket dual exhaust system with 2.5″ piping and Flowmaster mufflers has been added, and a replacement clutch assembly was reportedly installed in March 2023. The seller recommends adjusting the clutch and shifter linkages.
