This 1972 MG MGB Roadster was acquired by the seller in 2007, and subsequent work involved overboring and rebuilding the 1.8-liter inline-four and overhauling the four-speed manual gearbox and overdrive as well as media-blasting the body, welding the left-front fender, replacing various panels, refinishing the car in Mallard Green with a tan soft top, and more as described below. It also features a decklid luggage rack, dual mirrors, chrome-finished bumpers, front disc brakes, replacement 15″ wheels, a heater, and a glove compartment-mounted Sony CD stereo. This MGB is offered with a laminated BMIHT certificate, service records, refurbishment photos, and Alabama registration in the name of the seller’s company.

The car left the factory finished in Mallard Green with a black soft top, and the body was media blasted in 2008. Subsequent work included welding the left-front fender, re-plating the window hardware in chrome, and fitting a replacement hood, front valance, fuel tank, and floor pans as well as repainting the body. The seller notes that overspray was removed in 2010, and exterior details include a tan soft top, a decklid luggage rack, dual mirrors, and chrome-finished bumpers.

Replacement 15″ wheels were mounted with BFGoodrich Advantage T/A tires in May 2016. Stopping power is provided by disc brakes up front and drum brakes out back.

The replacement bucket seats are trimmed in tan and are complemented by color-coordinated carpeting and door panels. Features include a heater, crank windows, and a Sony CD stereo concealed within the glove compartment.

A three-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of Smiths instrumentation including a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 65k miles, approximately 3k of which were added by the seller. Total mileage is unknown.

The replacement 1.8-liter inline-four sends power to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. The powertrain components were overhauled in 2008, with work having included overboring the cylinders, fitting .020″-oversized pistons, and replacing the timing chain, camshaft, oil pump, bearings, tappets, valves, gaskets, seals, and ignition components. The dual SU carburetors have been overhauled, and the car was fitted with silicone hoses in 2015. Work since 2022 included changing the battery, water pump, heater valve, fan belt, and radiator as well as installing a Borg & Beck clutch kit.

Additional underbody images can be viewed in the gallery below along with photos showing various stages of the refurbishment. An undercoating has been applied.

The laminated BMIHT certificate lists factory colors, equipment, and identification numbers and indicates that the car was built in August 1971.

The car does not have a title, as it is registered in a state that does not issue titles for vehicles of its age. It is being sold on its Alabama registration.
