This 1979 Volkswagen Super Beetle convertible is powered by a 1.6-liter flat-four paired with a four-speed manual transaxle and is finished in Alpine White over Parchment leatherette. The car is finished in Alpine White and features a convertible soft top, chrome-finished bumpers, quarter vent windows, dual side mirrors, running boards, and a louvered rear engine cover. The 15″ Lemmerz sport steel wheels are mounted with Nexen SB802 tires. The car was factory-equipped with a MacPherson strut and coil spring front suspension in place of the standard Beetle’s torsion bar setup. Stopping power is provided by front discs and rear drums.
The front bucket seats and the rear bench are upholstered in Parchment leatherette. Interior appointments include a lockable glove box, a heater, an Alpine stereo, hand-crank windows, and seat belts. There is corrosion in the trunk and beneath the carpeting.
The four-spoke steering wheel features a Wolfsburg crest and fronts an 85-mph VDO speedometer with an inset fuel-level gauge. The five-digit odometer shows 17k miles, approximately 1,500 of which were added under current ownership.
The air-cooled 1.6L flat-four was factory equipped with Bosch L-Jetronic fuel injection and was rated at 48 horsepower and 73 lb-ft of torque.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle.
