This 1964 Chevrolet Corvair Monza 900 convertible was acquired by the seller in 2020 and subsequently underwent a cosmetic refurbishment. Work included repainting the body red, repholstering the interior in red viny, replacing the white convertible soft top, and fitting 14″ VTO Classic 8 wheels, which are mounted with 175/70 Nexen tires. Powered by a rear-mounted 164ci air-cooled flat-six paired with a four-speed manual transaxle, the car is equipped with independent front and swing axle rear suspension as well as drum brakes, chrome bumpers, a lockable glove compartment, a retro-style radio, front lap belts, and a center console with integrated storage and cupholders. This Corvair convertible is now offered with a clean Texas title in the seller’s name.
The Corvair was the first unibody model produced by Fisher Body, and this example left the factory finished in Ember Red (922) and was repainted as part of the refurbishment in 2023. Exterior details include a replacement white convertible soft top, a louvered deck lid, chrome bumpers, and brightwork consisting of a driver-side mirror, a lower rear grille, and wheel well and rocker panel trim.
The 14″ VTO Classic 8 wheels are mounted with 175/70 Nexen N’priz AH5 tires. The Corvair’s factory independent suspension utilized coil springs all around and swing axles at the rear. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel drum brakes.
The interior has been reupholstered and features front bucket seats and a rear bench trimmed in red vinyl upholstery joined by a color-coordinated dashboard pad, door panels, and carpeting. Interior elements include a lockable glove compartment, a retro-style radio, front lap belts, and a center console with integrated storage and cupholders.
The two-spoke steering wheel frames a 100-mph horizontal-sweep speedometer and a fuel gauge. The five-digit odometer shows 58k miles, which the seller believes to be accurate.
The rear-mounted 164ci flat-six was factory rated at 110 horsepower and 160 lb-ft of torque.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle.
