This 1984 Mercedes-Benz 380SL is finished in Midnight Blue over Palomino MB-Tex and is powered by a 3.8-liter V8 paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a color-matched removable hardtop, a dark blue soft top, four-wheel disc brakes, 14″ Bundt alloy wheels, automatic climate control, power windows, and a Becker cassette stereo. The seller purchased the car in 2018 and subsequent work included rebuilding the transmission, servicing the engine, overhauling the fuel system, and replacing the rear main seal, air conditioning compressor, exhaust system, windshield, and bucket seats. This R107 is offered with service records, a Carfax report, and a clean Florida title in the seller’s name.

The car is finished in Midnight Blue (904) and features a color-matched removable hardtop and a dark blue soft top. Exterior details include quad headlights, fog lights, a power antenna, and chrome-accented bumpers and trim. The Carfax report indicates “functional damage” to the left front of the car resulted from an incident in November 2018. The windshield was replaced in 2021, the front bumper has dings, and a blemish in the paint is visible on the front of the hood.

The 14″ Bundt alloy wheels are mounted with General Altimax tires. The car was factory-equipped with power steering, a fully independent suspension, and power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes. The brake hoses, brake pads, and rear sway bar end links were replaced and the brake fluid was flushed in 2019.

The replacement bucket seats are upholstered in Palomino (154) MB-Tex. Woodgrain trim accents the dashboard and additional appointments include automatic climate control, power windows, and a Becker Grand Prix cassette stereo. Work under current ownership included cleaning the carpets and replacing the sun visors.

The four-spoke steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, a clock, and gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. An exterior temperature gauge is housed in the center of the dashboard. The inoperative six-digit odometer shows 93k miles, and total mileage is unknown. The steering column coupler and turn signal switch were replaced under current ownership.

The 3.8-liter V8 was factory rated at 155 horsepower and 196 lb-ft of torque. Work since 2018 included replacing the following components:

  • Engine mounts
  • Rear main seal
  • Exhaust system
  • Air conditioning compressor
  • Fuel distributor, fuel accumulator, and fuel pressure regulator
  • Fuel filter and fuel pump relay
  • Four fuel injectors
  • Ignition wires and spark plugs

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission that was rebuilt in July 2018. Additional work under current ownership included replacing the transmission pan gasket, shifter bushings, and transmission mounts.

The Carfax report shows the aforementioned damage report in November 2018 and lists history in New York, Texas, and Florida from the initial entry in June 1988.
