This 1968 Datsun 1600 Roadster underwent a cosmetic and mechanical refurbishment under previous ownership in the 1990s before being acquired by the seller in 2018. The car is finished in white with a black soft top and is powered by a 1.6-liter R16 inline-four paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Inside, black leather–trimmed seats are accompanied by a Nardi Personal steering wheel and a custom stereo. Further equipment includes dual side-draft carburetors, front disc brakes, and 14″ American Racing alloy wheels. This 1600 Roadster is now offered with a repair manual, partial service records, spare seat covers, and a clean Illinois title in the seller’s name.
The car was repainted white as part of the aforementioned refurbishment completed under prior ownership. Details include a replacement black soft top, a hood scoop, a left-side mirror, LED headlamp bulbs, and chrome-finished bumpers with overriders. The windshield washer fluid sprayers do not work, and noted blemishes include a scratch on the right quarter panel as well as cracks in the paint on the rear quarter panels.
Polished 14″ American Racing alloy wheels are mounted with 185/70 Pirelli P4 Four Season tires. Stopping power is provided by front disc and rear drum brakes.
The bucket seats were reupholstered in black leather and are paired with lap belts. A Kenwood CD stereo is mounted in the glove compartment and is linked to Kenwood audio speakers as well as a trunk-mounted Alpine amplifier. Further appointments include a center console, a rear cargo shelf, and black carpets. The seller notes that the clock does not work.
The leather-wrapped Nardi Personal steering wheel sits ahead of a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage. The five-digit odometer shows 16k miles, approximately 2k of which have been added during current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The 1.6-liter R16 inline-four produced 96 horsepower and 103 lb-ft of torque when new and was overhauled in 1996. It is equipped with dual side-draft carburetors, and the seller notes that it runs rough when cold. Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission.
The data plate is missing from the engine bay. A photo of the frame stamping is shown above, and an image of the engine block stamping can be viewed in the gallery.
