This 1966 Chevrolet Corvette convertible was restored as part of a collection with its second owner according to the seller, who purchased the car from them in 2021. It is powered by a 427ci L36 V8 paired with a four-speed manual transmission and is finished in Silver Pearl over Silver leather upholstery. Features include a Positraction differential, a black convertible soft top, knock-off 15″ turbine-style aluminum wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, side-exit exhaust pipes, power steering, and an AM/FM radio. The tires were replaced and the rear brakes were overhauled in 2024. This C2 is now offered with a car cover, some records, and a clean Florida title in the seller’s name.
The fiberglass body is finished in Silver Pearl, and features include a black convertible soft top, a domed hood, flip-up headlights, chrome bumpers, fender vents, Soft Ray tinted glass, a driver-side mirror, and a side-exit exhaust system.
The 15″ turbine-style aluminum wheels feature knock-off spinners, and the goldline tires were mounted in June 2024. The C2 was the first Corvette to offer fully independent suspension, with upper and lower control arms at the front and a three-link setup with a transverse leaf spring at the rear. The rear shocks, power steering control valve, and front brake components were replaced in October 2021, and in April 2024 the rear brake calipers and lines were replaced.
The seller believes the silver upholstery and carpeting were both replaced as part of the 2008 restoration. The car has a heater, an AM/FM radio, an analog clock, and lap belts.
The three-spoke steering wheel is mounted on a telescopic column and frames a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for fuel level, amperage, oil pressure, and water temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 20k miles but does not work, and the seller estimates they have driven the car 4k miles. Total mileage is unknown.
The 427ci L36 V8 was factory rated at 390 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. The seller believes the engine and carburetor were rebuilt as part of the 2008 restoration. The alternator, rear main seal, and oil pan gasket were replaced in 2021, and the valve cover gaskets were changed in June 2022.
The engine stamping is shown above. The IL suffix corresponds with a 390-horsepower, 427ci L36 V8 for use with a manual transmission. The stamping includes sequence 110164, which matches the last six digits of the vehicle’s serial number that is viewable in the image gallery.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and an optional Positraction differential.
Records from current ownership are included with the car.
